5.15. PLATFORM AND SAFETY FENCE DESCRIPTION .1 Platforms may be factory made and brought to site in one or several sections; .2 See drawing in appendix E for the new platforms, stair, ladder and step to be provided. 5.15.2 Mechanical and structural design .1 Supplier is responsible for all calculations and shall coordinate all design details required. Platform, stairs, railing and ladder design must be approved and sealed by an engineer member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec,.and according to the Canadian Building Code;. .2 Platform bearing capacity: Platform shall support personnel and accessories; .3 The platform and the stairs overload withstanding calculations must be done by a Professional Engineer. 5.15.3 Platform description .1 The platform is intended for personal use. No equipment will be supported by this platform; .2 The tank T414 outside diameter is 7'-5"; .3 Supplier shall install vertical support to self-support the platform; .4 The platforms shall be made of stainless steel 304 round or square channels, closed on both sides, glass bead finish; .5 The legs of the platform shall allow minimum adjustment (for levelling) and be equipped with a bevelled anchor plate on the periphery, with two diagonal holes; .6 Platform has two levels. The first is accessible via a stair way, the second using a ladder; .7 Refer to appendix D and E for platform footprint. 5.15.4 Safety fence .1 A self-supporting security fence shall be provided to prevent access to the bulk bag unloading station; .2 The fence openings shall be 1" X 1". The fence total height shall be 168"; .3 An access door with a guard locking mechanism and detection switch (to be supplied refer to appendix F) must be supplied; .4 The door shall be constructed to withstand deformation due to the presence of a lock device.; .5 Where possible, fence may be directly installed on the access platform; .6 Refer to appendix D and E for dimension, exact design by supplier.

5.15.5 Floor of mezzanine .1 Floor is made of Stainless steel 304 and must be drainable and slide proof. Standard is Perf-O-Grip plank grating or equivalent; .2 100 mm high edging on the periphery of any vessel, with 25-mm clearance; .3 100 mm high edging on the periphery of the platform. 5.15.6 Stairway and ladder .1 Stainless steel 304 with slide proof steps of 13 inches deep max (excluding stair nosing) by 22 inches wide. Minimum height between steps is about 5inches; .2 A access ladder is needed to gain the second level. Continuous railing is needed. 5.15.7 Railing .1 Platform railing shall be screwed to structure for safety purposes around floor perimeter and stairway; .2 Railing shall be installed on the platform sides exposed to falls if their height above the ground or floor is more than 18"; .3 Stainless steel 304 round or square channels, closed on both sides. Supports of the railing shall be equipped with a bevelled anchor plate on the periphery, with two diagonal holes; .4 Top rail shall be 42" above platform floor. An intermediate bar shall be provided halfway between top rail and the floor.
