 InnovationPavilionatPlastindia2015wasasuccessfulevent.ThiswasthefirsttimethatPlastindiagerminatedsuchanidea.Manywereinterestedinexhibitingtheirinnovations,productsorprocesses.ThecommitteeconsistedofsuchilluminatingnamesasProf.M.A.Shenoy,Prof.AnupGhosh,Prof.D.D.Kale,Mr.JayantKamatandMr.JayeshRambhiaasCo‐chairman&Dr.PrakashTrivediasChairman.ThedesignofthepavilionwasnovelandwasbasedontheideaofusingDigitalDisplayStations.Thisdesignhadeleganceaswellasflexibilitytoinclude15to30stations.InnovationPavilionwasinHallno.3.Ampacetwasleadsponsor,thePavilionthereforewastitledAmpacetInnovationPavilion.Mr.AjayBijwe,AmpacetAsia'sGeneralManager,stationedinBangkok,speciallyflewintoinauguratethePavilionon5thFebruary,inthepresenceofPIPresident,VicePresident,NECChairmanandotherdignitaries,includingMr,MangeshUtane,Ampacet'sGMinIndia,whowasprincipalcoordinatorfromtheirside.

Wegotverygoodresponsefromfollowingcompanieswiththeirinnovations:TIPCO(Phenolic/JuteCompositesbasedfurniture’s),GhardaChemicals(PEK,PEKK&PBI),Chembond(NovelPolyamides,Acrylics),ExcelIndustry(AdditivesforPolymers),ULLabs(NovelPolymerDatabaseSoftware),VajraRubber(SilicabasedCompositesforSpacevehicles)andIntrib(SoftwareforcontrollingInjectionMoldingMachines).Additionally,wewereluckytogetfullheartedsupportfromNationalChemicalLaboratory(NCL)Pune,whichbroughtintheirfuelcellcomponentsandahostofmembranesandotherinventions.InstituteofChemicalTechnology(ICT)MumbaiandIndianInstituteofTechnology,NewDelhialsoparticipatedwiththeirR&Dprojectsaswellastheirstudent’sposters.AspecialthankstoAmpacet,NCLandTIPCOfortheirsponsorshipsaswellastheirmanyothersupportsandtoothercompaniesandinstitutionsfortheirparticipation.

AseanPlasticsFederation:

The24thAPFmeetwasorganizedatPlastindia2015on6thFebruaryconferenceandexhibition.Nineteendelegates of the Asian Plastics Forum attended the APF Meet. The Meet was very encouraging &deliberated with the participation of delegates, the President, Vice President, NEC Chairman, andInternationalCommitteeChairmanattheexecutiveofficesofthePresident.TheAPF PlasticsWasteMeetwas also organized on 7th February at the Plastindia 2015 Exhibition inGandhiNagar. Themeetingwas attended by all delegates and a large number of attendees. ElaboratepresentationsweremadebyPresidentPlastindiaMr.SubhashKadakiaandMr.CallumChenSec.GeneralAPF.

 

Mr. Tushar Bandhopadhaya presented a paper on recycling in India. Mr. Lim Kok Boon PresidentMalaysiaPlasticsManufacturingAssociationmadepresentationsonthemarine litterproblem.Mr.RKSabupresenteda interestingstudyofhowthestudentsweresegregatingtheplasticwaste inthesmalltowninKerala.Delegatesfromvariouscountriesinteractedwiththeirrespectivedevelopmentsinplasticwastemanagement.TheMeetendedwithinvitationtoallAPFdelegatestothe25thAPFMeetinDhaka,BangladeshinJanuary,2016.

HighteawasorganizedfortheAPFdelegatesattheTajHotelAhmedabadwherethedelegatesmetthedoyensoftheindustryincludingMr.KamalNanavaty,Mr.AjayShah,Mr.VipulShah,andMr.AshokGoelamongstothers.

Plastwin:

ThePlastwinB2BpavilionwasthebusiestinHall2AduringPlastindia2015heldfrom5thto10thFebruary.Itdrewalotofcrowdand150onetoonemeettookplaceatthevenue.Approximately15presentationstookplace,asperareportbythePlastwinCommittee.WiintechmemberfromPortugal,MrRuiTocha,tookalotofinterestandspentconsiderabletimeatthePlastwinpavilion‐sometechnologytieupswithPortuguesecompaniescouldbeonthecards.

AnotherWiintechmemberPool‐net,FrancealsotookalotofinterestandhadsenttheirrepresentativetodiscussandplantotakeittothenextlevelandhaveinvitedandofferedtofundthetripofPlastindiapersontoFrancetodiscussintheirB2Bmeet.UKTI,aninitiativeoftheUKGovernmenttookalotofinterestandtheirrepresentativeMrBabHawkinspersonallycalledatthePlastwinboothandappreciatedtheefforts,andexpressesthatUKispromotingthesameefforts,andwouldlikemanyJointventurestobeformedwithIndiancompanies.Plastwinregisteredmembersnownumberingover500,attendedandmanymoreregisteredatthevenue.Themeetswereaimedatgettingjointventures,andcollaborationsandweexpectoverthreedozendiscussionstakingplace.EminentcompanieslikeJapanSteelworks,Japan;DSM,Nederlandsamongstothersmadepresentations.

Trodat,Austria’sGlobalMDDrNorbetAlmohfer&GlobalProcurementHeadOlienkDietervisitedthePlastwinpavilion.Theyheld1‐on‐1discussionswiththreerawmaterialsuppliersandlocalinjectionmouldingmachineandtoolmanufacturers.TrodatMDDrNorbetAlmohferannouncedtheywillputupa2millioneuroplantinvestmentformakingselfinkingplasticstampsinIndiaundertheMakeinIndiaCampaign.RoelofWestbreak,president–DSMEngineeringPastics,&IvoIansburgenBusinessUnitDirector–DSMEngineeringPlsticsAisia‐Pacific,alsoattendedthemeetsandcreditedthePlastindiainitiativeandexpressedinterestinbeinginvolved.PlastwinwasorganisedbymembersofPlastindiacommitteesandmembersoftheIndianPlasticsIndustriesLKSingh,SameerJoshi,ParagHarolikar,MercyBulsari,HemantMinocha,NarendraJoshiandmanyothers,andsupportedbyveryenthusiastic20studentsfromIMT,Pune.

Proplast:

PlastIndia 2015 also hosted the 4thProplast Exhibition as a concurrent event.This 4thedition of theProplast offered an opportunity for the Indian plastics processing and finished products sector toshowcaseitscapabilitytodomesticandexportmarkets.A total 210exhibitorsparticipated, covering an areaof4220sq.mtrs.Thebreadthof participationwaswideandincludedsmallfledglingunitstomajornationalplayerssuchasSupremeIndustries,National,XproPolyset,VisakhaPolyfab,etc.(tonameveryfew).

ProplastwashousedinHallNo.1,whichwastoensuregoodvisibilityandfoot‐fall.SignagesandmarkersdirectingvisitorstowardstheHalls(1,2&3)wereaddedevenastheexhibitionprogressed.Alsoentryand sale of ticketswas added at gateNos. 12& 12A, so that visitor entry near the Proplast hallwasfacilitated.

Ingeneral,participantsandvisitorswerehappyaboutthehall,andbasedoninteractionwithexhibitorsandtheirfeed‐back,overalldomesticvisitorattendancewasgood,andmainlyfromWesternIndia.Visitorsfromoverseaswerelowerthanusual.ManyofthemachinerysuppliersfromparticipatingCompaniesalsovisitedtheirpotentialcustomersinProplast.Domesticvisitorswerefromallsegmentsofconsumerindustrybesidespotentialdealers/distributors.Infactonsomedaystherewereclearover‐crowding.

7thPlasticonAwards: Themostcovetedeveningfortheplasticindustrywascelebratedon5thFebruary2015atGandhinagar.The7thPlasticonAwardswaspresentedamidstanaugustgatheringandwasheldconcurrentlywithPLASTINDIA2015.Theawardsnightwasaspectaculareventwithprofessionalsandstudentsbeingfelicitatedfortheiraccomplishmentsandexcellenceacross25categories.ThechiefguestfortheeventwasShriAvinashJoshi,IAS,JointSecretary‐DepartmentofChemicals&PetrochemicalsMinistryofChemicals&FertilizersGovernmentofIndia.Thisyeartwostalwartsfromtheindustry,ShriM.P.TapariaandShriHasmukhShah,weregiventhelifetimeachievementawardfortheinvaluablecontributiontowardsthegrowthoftheplasticindustry.Anindependentpanelofjuries,comprisingofuniversityprofessors,technocrats,designers,industryprofessionalsevaluatedandjudgedtheentries.

Theawardceremonyhighlightedthevariousinnovationsanduniqueconceptsintheworldofagriculture,infrastructure,rawmaterials,processing,machinery,technology,andmoldingandastohowplasticsplayanimportantroleinourdailyliveswitharangeofproductsandenvironmentfriendlysolutions.

Participation was spread across various industry profiles including the machinery/equipmentmanufacturers’, raw material suppliers and allied industries like testing and measuring equipmentmanufacturers’withthenumbersspreadprettyevenlyacrosstheirprofilesaswell.SeveralparticipantsfromtheInjectionMouldingindustrywerepresentintheseminar.

Exhibitors from18statesof Indiavisited theexhibitionheldatGandhinagarbyPlastIndia.74%of theexhibitorsmajorlywereoriginatingfromtheWestregion,specificallyGujaratandMaharashtra.Severalexhibitorswere coming from the capital city of India. The key note here is Pan India participation isobservedintheexhibitionwhichallandallhasmadeitverysuccessfulevent.

Theglobalparticipationmadethiseventallandallmoresignificant.MajorityofthecompanieswereofIndian origin. Other few companies came from Taiwan, China, Germany, Italy and Turkey. CompaniesfromDeutschland,Austria,USA,Japan,CyprusandFrancewerealsopresentingreatnumber.

Themajority,over80%oftherespondentswillinglysaidthattheywouldliketoparticipateandbeapartofitthenexttimeasanexhibitor.

The majority, per say 80% of the visitors were satisfied from the overall attempt. So on a widerperspective, the organizers can be applauded for their successful event management as well as theexhibitionsobjectivebeingfulfilledfromthevisitors’pointofview.

Themajority dealingwith finished goodsmanufacturingmachines,packagingofgoodsandelectronicengineering.Severalstudentsandacademiciansalsowerepresentintheexhibition.Distributors,traders,MaterialHandlersandServiceProvidersalsowereseenpresentinagoodnumber.
