OUTLINE OF THE PRESENTATION
INTRODUCTION PLASMA PLASMA ANTENNA TECHNOLOGY UNIQUE FEATURE WORKING PRINCIPLE OF PLASMA ANTENNA FUTURE SCOPE APPLICATIONS ADVANTAGES LIMITATIONS CONCLUSION
INTRODUCTION
Plasma Antenna is a special type of antenna in which the metal conducting elements of a conventional antenna are replaced by a plasma.
PLASMA Fourth state of matter similar to gas. Sir William Crookes, an English Physicist
identified it in 1879. Plasmas are conductive assemblies of charged and neutral particles. Plasmas carry electrical currents and generate
magnetic fields. Types of Plasma are:-
Warm Plasma
Cold Plasma Cold Plasma is used for antenna applications
PLASMA ANTENNA TECHNOLOGY
Operates up to 90 GHz.
It use ionized gas as conducting material .
The gas is ionized only for the time of transmission or reception.
The design allows for extremely short pulses, important to many forms of digital communication and radars.
UNIQUE FEATURE OF PLASMA ANTENNA
One fundamental distinguishing feature of a plasma antenna is that the gas ionizing process.
A second fundamental distinguishing feature is that after sending a pulse the plasma antenna can be deionized.
IONIZED GAS PLASMA ANTENNA
FIGURE OF PLASMA TUBE ANTENNA
WORKING PRINCIPLE
When supply is given to the tube, the gas inside it gets ionized to plasma.
When plasma is highly energized, it behaves as a conductor.
Antenna generates a localized concentration of plasma to form a plasma mirror that deflects RF beam launched from a central feed located at focus of mirror.

FUTURE SCOPE-PSiAn
Plasma antenna up coming Technology is PSiAnBased on silicon integrated circuits technologyIts product cost does not increase with frequencyFrequncy range -1 to 300GHz
AdvantagesWide band MultimediaWireless local networkMedical etc
APPLICATIONS
In high-speed digital communication and radar system. In radio antenna. Stealth for millitary application. Used for transmission and modulation
techniques(PM,AM,FM). Network Operators. Public Safety Networks. Sensing. Defense, Space and Homeland Security.
ADVANTAGES
Higher Power Enhanced bandwidth Higher efficiency Lower noise Perfect reflector Low in weight Smaller in size Improved reliability
LIMITATIONS
The cost is high when compared to normal conventional antennas.
CONCLUSION
It is more advantageous than other antenna due to ionized gas.
Its action has many general with the dielectric antenna action.
It helps in pulse operation.
