INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING

Caen, in NormandyTraditionally known for its history and rich tradition, CAEN is an attractive place to study between land and sea and only 2 hours from Paris. At the heart of a district of 250.000 inhabitants (25 000 students), Caen is close to many major historical and cultural sites including the D-Day landing, the Memorial for peace and the Mont St Michel.Caen is an attractive city for all kind of sports activities (land and sea), and its art and historical museums and music festivals.Caen is a city of innovation and challenge with strong commitment to the high-tech industry and encompassing major fields of competence in further education and research.

The international experience brings open-mindedness, mobility and flexibility. These qualities are requi-red to build a career in a worldwilde industrial context, so mobility is an integral part of the engineering course ENSICAEN.To this end, our students receive a training in English and in at least one more foreign language (French for foreign students).ENSICAEN helps students in their mobility project by developing a wide network of foreign partner Institutions and by participating in International and European programs of exchange (ERASMUS, ISEP, CREPUQ, BRAFITEC, MEXITEC, CHILFITEC, ARFITEC). ENSICAEN is also a member of Campus France• Studying abroad can be in the form of internship and / or an academic semester. In the latter case, the courses taken at the partner university are validated by ENSICAEN.• A set of measures makes the integration of foreign students easier : a welcome booklet, airport recep-tion, accommodation booking, administrative assistance, tutoring and an intercultural club of students.

Ricardo MALHERBI-MARTINS (ENSICAEN, specialization in Telecom)My «love story» with ENSICAEN and the Normandy started in 2007 when I was selected to participate in the BRAFITEC program, an exchange program between Brazil and France. I chose ENSICAEN and I joined the second year. The school supported me well and I appreciated this stay so much that I also did the 3rd year at ENSICAEN. I finally completed two degrees: the engineer’s degree at ENSICAEN and the «Research Master» at the University of Caen. My internships at Orange Business (Caen), NXP (Caen) and CEA – LETI (Grenoble) allowed me to establish many contacts with the professional world, which has been decisive for my career. After having spent two years at CEA as a research engineer, I’m now back in Caen: I joined the team of Orange Business and I work in the field of RFID hardware expertise for clients around the world.

ENSICAEN

Scientific areaENSICAEN is located in the heart of the scientific campus of Caen. It is a public and autonomous establishment for higher education and Research which was created in 1987, linked to the University of Caen by a cooperation agreement. Close to its main building are located other laboratories like CYCERON (Neurosciences and medical imaging), GANIL (National heavy ion accelerator) and the University laboratories. In this area, you will find the ESITC (Higher school for civil engineering), University Campus Faculty of sciences and nearby, Industrial Technopole, NXP, Presto Engineering, France Telecom R&D, Cancer institute, University Hospital…

The french magazine « L’Etudiant » places the city of Caen 2nde in the cate-gory of cities fewer than250 000 inhabitants, where it is great to study.

65 agreements with foreign universities in 24 countries

engineering degree, acknowledged by the French Engineering Accreditation Commission (equivalent to a Master’s degree). The school offers five main engineering degree courses :

In addition, lectures in complementary fields such as marketing and mana-gement provide students with a useful overview of an engineer’s working life. They also have opportu-nities to practice different languages : French (for fo-reigners students), English, German, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese ...

Admission requirements• National entrance exam after a 2 year post high level course

Jekaterina Kuzina Within the framework of my exchange Erasmus, I choose ENSICAEN because of its good reputation in e-banking fields and as it is a french ‘grande ecole’. I liked my experience studying at ENSICAEN. I succeeded the higher level in education and I was very satisfied with the professionalism of French higher education. Staying in France was exciting because life there involves all that you need to enjoy each day fully. I was astonished by the Normandy region, how beautiful and historically rich it is. I hope that I will be able to return back to France and to try to work there and use the knowledge I gained.

ENSICAEN prepares highly trained engieners in competitive courses with a good experience of the industrial world. A lar-ge and dynamic network of partners has been formed around the courses. Many of our partnerships with leading industrial groups and foreign universities throughout Europe, America and Asia al-low our students to keep up to date with state of the art innovative technologies.

ENSICAEN’s industrial activities : - Improve employment and internship for its students- Promote key ENSICAEN technology transfer- Have a scientific experts network - Encourage innovative activities- Give technological advice- Promote industrial partners’clubs in security banking, energy, instrumentation- Offer adult continuing education

ENSICAEN partnerin three Competitiveness Clusters :

TES (E-Secure Transactions cluster)Relying on cooperation from business and research and trai-ning institutions, the TES cluster has chosen to take on this challenge, requiring the command of a global issue involving technological innovation, usage, marketing and legal exper-tise, to develop an international site.

ENSICAEN is a key player in this cluster. One of a kind in France, its e-banking platform is an essential tool for ad-vanced learning and its research project is initiated by local industrial partners in the field of e-banking and electronic transactions.

ResearchResearch is one of the school’s distinctive features, with 7 laboratories linked to national research organizations - CNRS/CEA/University of Caen) and 1 associate laboratory, together with industrial partners (NXP and Presto engineering Europe) ENSICAEN has emerged as a renowned member of the international scientific community.
