Plant Structure
Plant Cells are Unique!!!
Plant cells have chloroplasts used during photosynthesis.
Plants have a cell wall composed of cellulose located outside the cell membrane.
Water Transport
The major source of water transport in plants is provided by the evaporation of water from leaves during transpiration.
When water is lost from the leaves, more water is pulled upward from the roots.
Structure of Flowers
Flowers are reproductive organs of plants
Male Part: Stamen
Anther – produces pollen (sperm)
Filament - long, thin stalk that supports the anther
Female Part: Pistils
Ovary – broad base that contains one or more ovules
Style – narrow stalk of the pistil
Stigma – sticky portion at the top of the style where pollen grains typically land
