Blowdown, flare & ground flare

IntroductionBlowdown, flare and ground flare are a unit that in plant 19. The function of plant 19 is: Separate all disposal hydrocarbons into liquid and gas by its gravity. Burn all of disposal hydrocarbons.

The reason why hydrocarbons need to be disposed is: Process start up and shutdown. Over pressure. Product off spec. Repairing of pipe or equipment that need to release its gas or liquid.

At plant 19 there are several operation, it is:1. Blowdown process.2. Flare system.3. Ground flare.Blowdown ProcessBlowdown process is same like KOD drum. It separates liquid and gas from hydrocarbons disposal from train, utilities, and storage and loading. The gas will be burn at flare while the liquid will be burn at ground flare. Blowdown system is divided into 2, there are: Dry blowdown drum (using stainless steel because handling hydrocarbon < -460C) Wet blowdown drum (using carbon steel because handling hydrocarbon >-460C)In the table bellow will show blowdown drum according to its placed and type:Process Train Module IProcess Train Module 2

Flare SystemThe function of flare system is to burn light hydrocarbon (gas). At flare stack sweep gas has a function automatically, if there is no gas flows to stack, the stack still fire. It is intended if suddenly hydrocarbons disposal from process train, so that disposal is burned directly. This is to avoid that gas do not spread out to dangerous area in plant. And also to avoid oxygen goes into to along the flare pipe. It can become causes/potential explosion. Then in the flare is equipped by igniter that has a function as pre-fire (if the flare has been repaired) or the flame of the stack goes out. The flare is equipped with 3 igniters. Flare system is divided into 3, there are: Dry Flare.It has a function to burn dry gas hydrocarbons (without water contain) from all process train. Wet Flare.It has a function to burn gas hydrocarbons disposal that has water contain from all process train. Marine Flare.It has a function to burn BOG from tank LNG/LPG or from ships tank LNG/LPG cause of high pressure in the tank or ships tank.In the table bellow will show flare system according to function and its placed:Process Train Module IProcess Train Module 2

Marine flare on the loading dock #1 is 19F-2 and 19F-5 and on the dock #2 and #3 are 19F-21, 19F-36 and 19F-26

Ground FlareIt has a function to burn hydrocarbon that is in liquid form. It is from bottom blowdown drum, drain pipe from plant 16 and pipe off-spec LNG/LPG.
