Plans for new crystals for H8 and SPS (IHEP)
V. Maisheev for IHEP group
Test beam and crystals •Seven crystals produced in IHEP were tested•According to Marco definition:
–One is “no good”–Six crystals are good
•Two of them are very interesting for future investigation
•The MVR are from 60 microrad up to 160 microrad according to on-line monitoring.
Test beam and crystals
•Point of interest – crystal MSTI14-3:–Positive - it has the wide zone of VR, which should give us the stability in the beam ring–Negative for SPS:
• Crystal is optimized for 120 GeV• It has wrong direction of beam reflection
–Needs to future investigation – For the callimation the reverse angle of deflection can be better such as the second or third turnover particles fall to the collimator even more deeply than with the first turnover.
Test beam and crystals •Point of interest – crystal MSTI14-6, which has MVR is about 160 microrad according to online monitoring•It needs off-line analysis with additional cut to impact angle to reduce the peak in the 0 angle•It needs off-line analisys to confirm this result •It is a best candidate for SPS from IHEP crystals
Plans for new crystals for H8 and SPS
Our plans for 2015 year of crystals deflectors have two directions:
1. Investigation and start production of focusing crystal deflectors
2. Futher improvement of current crystal multystrip deflector
Conclusion
• Bam test for all seven crystals was done successfully. Many thanks to shifters and colleagues for their role in the test beam for IHEP crystals.
• Two crystals have been found interesting to further study.
• Other main topic is focusing crystal deflector

I can’t to show the histo “X Deflaction vs Impact
Angle” now, sorry.
