Planning Hair, Make Up and Costume

Hair

When considering how the hair of my main character would look I decided I wanted to suggest that Sarah was tired and scrawny. With no motivation to try, I wanted Sarah to look worn, this therefore meant that having my actresses hair loose and straight would prove her tired feel as it was a simple style that needed little adjustment to look bland. The hair of the young boy featured in Sarahs day dream was planned to look smart but disarrayed as if fumbled with by the child in playing. This style will also contribute to the characters perfect image that suits Sarahs vision.

Make Up

My main character Sarah Wilcox will be made to look tired and worn with dark circles created by eye shadow under her eyes, therefore suggesting a lack of sleep. Whilst a pale complexion will portray how life is drained from her character. The young boy will need little adjustment in terms of make up as I am planning to keep a natural look in order to suggest how youth can bring more life to an individual. This contrast will create concern over Sarahs mental as well as physical health in comparison to the child of her vision.

Costume

Sarahs first costume will prove most significant during production as she will be dressed in all black in an attempt to prove how colour and vibrancy is of a lesser significance in her life. Wearing simple clothes like jeans and a hooded jumper, her costume will suggest to my targeted audience that she has no one to impress and consequently feels no need to try. Having a black costume will also contribute to Sarahs mechanical look and could possibly suggest she can move easily through the dark without being detected by the intruder. Her second costume within her day dream will consist of softer colours and will emphasize her maternal aspects. For example she will wear an apron to suggest how she has been cooking for her child like a stereotypical house-wife would have been.
