April, 1998 Water Shortage Crisis in Klang Valley during drought season
7 May 1998Government announced interest on RWHS
23 Jun 1999Initial guideline produce by Housing and Local Government “Installing a Rainwater Collection and Utilisation System”
Oct 2004 Cabinet paper released to encourage government and federal buildings need to install RWHS but it is still not a mandatory
Aug 2006
Housing & Local Government Ministry produced a National Urbanization Policy -the need to improve water management efficiency by emphasizing the RWHS

• Rainwater harvesting is a method used for collecting and storing rainwater from rooftops or the land surface and used back for potable or non potable use
• In Malaysia rainwater is use for non potable used such as general washing, landscape irrigation and toilet flushing only
