Field tripAs part of an extended learning programme activity on the topic of transport, the students of grade 2 were taken for a field trip to the Business Bay Metro
Station.
Workshop by Emirates Driving SchoolAs part of an extended learning programme activity on the topic transport,
trainers from Emirates Driving School visited JSSPS and conducted a workshop on road safety. Each child was presented with a road safety training
kit.
Christmas PartyStudents had an enjoyable time partying with their friends before they broke
off for their winter vacation. They shared their snacks with their friends played games and danced with each other.

Humble reminders to parents…..Kindly note: - Ensure that your ward comes to school in proper uniform. House dress to be worn only on Thursday.- Ensure that your child wears his ID card to school every day without fail.- Help your child find facts by exploring books, internet. Most of all make sure he is the key player in his research work. - Assignments will be sent on day to day basis. Kindly do check your child's diary for the assignment of the day. - Theme book and class work book are being sent on regular intervals. Kindly maintain a copy of the class work books and concepts covered in the Theme book for revision of the same at home through the week. - Kindly go through your child's diary everyday without fail even if there may not be nothing new.- The circulars sent might be in the form of print out or online message to your mail id. Please check every day.- LMS user id and password provided to students for better learning. If not received please inform the IT Dept ([email protected]).- Please label all the child’s belongings including uniforms and swimming accessories to avoid confusion- The calendar activities for the month are posted on Page 4 of this newsletter. Kindly make a note of it. We suggest you to kindly paste it in your child's study area and inculcate a habit in the child to mark these events and remind you.- Home assignments will be sent at regular intervals during this term. It will be as an reinforcement of concepts taught at the school. Your child should be able to do them on their own with less parents involvement. In case the child has any difficulty please inform the class teacher through mail. Your feedback is valuable in the learning process. - Kindly read Pg. No. 15 of school diary for Birthday Policy.- Do go through our school website -www.jsspsdubai.com on regular basis for all updates.

Say What You Mean.....Mean What You Say
Say pleaseWe learned that one in kindergarten! Saying please softens our request and when followed with a specific call to action it can get a kid moving. And adding a thank you makes a difference
Be specific When you say, Clean your room. Your child hears. In essence, he is doing what he was told. Prevent this miscommunication by being very clear - Please put the toys in the toy box and books on the shelf. Now THAT is very clear.
Think Often we make half-hearted requests of our child, and when he does not respond we just drop it. Usually, this happens over little issues, and we drop it because it's not worth fighting over. The problem is, a child gets in the habit of ignoring you, on both little issues and big ones. When you take a breath, take a minute and think first, you can then be clear about your request and willing to follow through to the end.
Eye-to-eye How often do you call to your child from another room and expect her to listen? Do you then follow-up with, Did youhear me ?Instead, take the time to get eye-to-eye with your child. Make a clear, specific request and ask ..What do I
need?
Pick your battles Parenting is a 24-hour a day job. If you try to deal with every issue, fix every problem and be a constant teacher and
coach, you will drive yourself CRAZY! Before you open your mouth, take a minute to decide if this issue is worth a battle. If you decide it is then win at all costs. This will prevent you from choosing the wrong battle, realizing it inmidstream and backing down because it's really not important. The danger is that your child does not know you'vechanged your mind due to a better decision. He figures you changed your mind because he put up a good fight, which leads him to try again the next day and the next. Fight the important battles, and using good skill and a level head you ...WIN! It's good for you and best for your child.

Making our kids self reliant future citizens of the world is our vision. We at JSSPS, are happy to introduce few
ongoing projects to foster this ability in our students.
SETTING DAILY ROUTINES: Seeing how the children have settled down so well in Grade I, we believe…….
time is ripe to inculcate in them one of the key aspect of the Goal Setting Project i.e. setting a daily routine. We
would request you to guide your child in setting up a daily schedule with the right blend of studies, sports/activities,
hygiene and household work sharing. Most of all quality family time and paste it in his study area.
Sticking to such daily routine would help the child:
Develop a sense of responsibility and discipline
Ensure things get done in a timely manner.
Achieve all-round physical and intellectual development .
Sense being an important member of the family by helping in household chores
At the end of the day, feel a sense of satisfaction of a ‘job well-done’
One way to accomplish this is planning out your own daily schedule and pasting it along with your wards…and
following it earnestly!!! Believe us its fun working along with kids…..
Dear Parents : A gentle reminder regarding goal setting project (the one sent earlier…..)
Kindly send the second part of the sheet of the goal achieved by your ward along with the supporting document .
As ever, we seek your kind co-operation in the implementation of these projects to make the process of learning
