ASK: How can you serve others?

Sacred Conversations ASK: How did Peter and John serve God in our story? How would you describe a disciple of Jesus today?

ASK: Why do you think Peter and John would rather go to prison than stop speaking about the resurrection of Jesus?

Blessing SAY: Before we end today, we are going to share a blessing with each other. Blessings show how special you are to God.

• Go around the room and say the blessing to each child.

SAY: (Person’s name), God loves you. God remembers you. God will always be with you.

PRAY: Dear God, show us how to serve you every day. Thank you for the examples of the disciples who served faithfully; in Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Crawl, Walk, Leap (Extra At-Home Activity) ASK: What did the man who couldn’t walk do when he was healed? (stood up, walked, leaped)

SAY: The man had not been able to walk all of his life, so all of those movements were new to him.

ASK: As you grew from a baby to a child, what movements did you learn? (crawling, walking, jumping, and running)

SAY: Let’s practice those movements in a relay.

• Line up along one wall in your room.

• Take turns making those movements. Crawl down one side of the room. Then walk across the next side of the room. Finally, leap down the third side of the room and take your place at the end of the line.

• If time allows, have the children do the relay again using animal movements, such as the turtle crawl, the bear walk, and the kangaroo jump.

ASK: How do you think it would be different to walk for the first time as an adult?

Peter and John Acts 3:1–4:22

It was three o’clock in the afternoon. It was time for prayer in the Temple. Peter

and John went to the Temple to pray.

As they were walking into the Temple, they saw a man who could not walk being carried into the Temple. He was laid down by the gate. Every day the man sat there and begged people for money.

Peter and John entered the Temple. The man saw Peter and John, and he asked them for money.

Peter said to the man who could not walk, “Look at us!”

The man who could not walk looked at Peter and John. The man thought Peter and John would give him some money.

Peter said, “I do not have money to give you, but I have a better gift for you. I can give you Jesus Christ. In the name of Jesus Christ, get up and walk!” Peter took the man’s right hand and helped him get up.

At once, the man’s feet and ankles became strong, and he jumped up and started walking. The man went into the Temple with Peter and John. Everyone who saw the man was amazed!

How do you think the man who was crippled felt after Peter and John healed him?
