Overview The Department of Management Studies, IIT Madras is one of the widely acclaimed business schools, known for its pedagogy that is in line with the dynamic business environment of the day. The MBA from the department offers the unique IIT advantage in imparting management education to the young talent. Renowned world-class faculty combined with outstanding international student exchange programmes and stellar placements give the MBA programme a global outlook.

Summary We are pleased to announce that the placements of batch of 2016 witnessed 25 companies recruiting from the campus. All the recruiters gave a positive feedback about the quality of the students.

The placement season witnessed firms from diverse sectors hiring talents from the department. Firms belonging to Consulting and IT/ITES ruled the roost followed by Banking & Finance Sector firms. Overall the placement process received healthy participation from companies across all domains, ensuring ample choice for the candidates to pursue careers in the field of their preference.

This year the placement season witnessed new entrants on campus such as Decathlon and Hitachi. The department also saw giants like Google, P&G and FSS come back to the campus for recruitment. Regular recruiters such as Amazon, Cisco, Mckinsey, Wipro, PwC, RBS, Avalon, Dell, Virtusa, Infosys and Cognizant reaffirmed their faith on the talents developed from this MBA programme.

The average CTC increased to 10.83 LPA from 10.44 LPA last year. The highest CTC offered saw an increase by 20% to 20.93 LPA . The median CTC stands at 11 LPA. The average CTC and the median CTC of the top 50% are 13.21 LPA and 12 LPA respectively. 25% of the class o f 2 0 1 6 re c e i ve d P re -Placement Offers and Pre-Placement Interviews through their summer internships in esteemed corporates.

A snapshot of the compiled statistics from placement process for the class of 2016 is as follows:

Statistics of top 50% of students

A brief of the companies that visited for Placement Process at the Department:

Consulting/IT Consulting:

30% of the companies that visited were from Consulting Sector. 21% of the students got placed in top Consulting fi r m s , w h i c h i n c l u d e d McKinsey & Company, PwC and Avalon Consulting. The p r o fi l e s offe r e d a t t h e d e p a r t m e n t i n c l u d e d Business Analyst, Operations Consulting and IT Consulting.

IT/ITes:

IT/ITes firms which formed close to 30% of the Companies that Visited DoMS. 17% of the batch received offers from IT firms such as Dell, Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant and Photon Infotech.

BFSI:

The batch of 2016 got offers from reputed financial institutions such as Royal Bank of Scotland, Standard Chartered, Sundaram finance and FSS. 14% of the Students got offers from firms belonging to BFSI sector for various profiles such as Banking, Financial Analyst and Marketing.

Operations and Analytics:

The Department of Management Studies has carved a niche for itself in Operations and Analytics for the past many years. 40% of the batch received offers from many companies that lined up to hire talent for these functional streams.

Companies such as Procter and Gamble, Amazon, CISCO, Tiger Analytics, Decathlon and Hitachi were some of the recruiters from this domain.

Hey Riya!!Couldn’t think of anyone else abt whom i would want to write.. Please have breakfast regularly :P.. U r smart.. u shouldn’t aim less.. u can achieve a lot;) U r smarter than other ppl who are older.. I remember the first day we met, I remember few expressions which I loved.. lets discuss more of this personally. Also during the blackout night.. u were all hyperactive and happy.. Was fun to be around u that time!! Horror movies are supposed to be watched with u :D The ease with which u connect with so many people.. wow!! Should learn that from you. Hope u start drinking with us (be happy that I'm not asking u to ear nonveg).. Something which u can remember us by ;) U r the best. I’m gladI met u :)

p.s.: how will i survive without u for 2 months during internship :O :O :(
