Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication (UG) offers one of the best under graduate programs in the field of media and communication today. Established in 2008, it is a constituent of the Symbiosis International (Deemed) University. The nurturing at SIMC (UG) empowers students to meet challenges of a competitive and evolving media environment. The following pages contains a brief summary about the program to give you an understanding of the kind of training our students go through. The natural culmination of this program is a placement in the media and communication industry. Several of our final year students are looking at full time opportunities on the completion of the program in May 2012. We believe that they could add significant value to your organization. We hope to develop a mutually beneficial relationship with your esteemed organization.

A comprehensive selection process ensures that only the most talented and dedicated students from across India are selected.

The courses are mainly taught by professionals

from the media industry ensuring constant industry exposure.

Students carry out research to compile a thesis on a topic of their choice from their field of specialization giving them an in-depth understanding of the subject.

Students undertake a live industry project for an

actual client. This gives scope for practical

application of theory learnt.

Students undertake two internships in the media industry and two in the development sector, ensuring professional standard work.

A pattern of continuous evaluation & relative grading is followed. Evaluation depends on internal & external grading which includes tests, assignments, presentations, cases and vivas.

A well equipped campus with state of the art

facilities ensures students are capable of handling

equipment, software and resources.

A choice of specialisation in the second year, and further concentrated division in the third year aid the students in emerging as focused media professionals.

While the constituent of a deemed university, SIMC

(UG) retains autonomy in its functioning. This has helped

keep the course dynamic and relevant.

The benefit of being an undergraduate lot is the freshness, creativity and enthusiasm they bring to the workplace.

ADVERTISING Includes media planning, advertising management & creatives, client servicing, account planning, ad filmmaking, design technology, new age media, rural marketing, IMC, marketing research, brand management, marketing entrepreneurship management, statistics, etc.

PR, CORP COMM. & EVENTS Includes PR, corporate communications, event management, IMC, marketing, brand management, marketing research, entrepreneurship management, human resource management, statistics, etc.

JOURNALISM Besides subjects like International Relations, general awareness and reporting, the journalism students are put under rigorous training for television news production, camera and lighting and post-production.

AV COMMUNICATION Includes camera operation & lighting, pre-production, scripting, audiography and music, production management, post-production, art and design, photography, animation, film-history and appreciation.

internships

Our students have completed two 7 week long internships with a variety of organisations, which includes some of India’s most renowned marketing communications agencies and reputed corporate houses. Students have also undertaken internships in several client servicing, account & media planning, copywriting and creative planning, production, public relations, corporate communications departments of various agencies and media houses.
