The 100 day countdown has begun! June 18th we fly to Asia Pacific to a city of 100,000 to start our year of national culture and language. It’s the next step toward long term tribal church planting in an unreached people group with yet another culture and language. (Though we will have a big say in choosing our tribal location, and our two coworker family units, it is too early to know the specific location. We want to be open to all the options and will likely visit several possibilities before making a decision.)
There’s nothing like a deadline to kick the energy up a notch, and all of us are feeling a new sense of urgency in our preparation. Dawn has made a fantastic countdown calendar with tasks to be done in addition to the big five we’ve been doing: visiting our local partners, talking with groups and individuals about tribal missions, helping with leadership and music in our sending church. We’ve been shopping for water filters, rain gear, batteries, and chargers, and started packing away things we won’t need for a while. The all-‐terrain snowmobile is also taking shape! Other tasks include soon getting motorcycle licenses and then international drivers licenses, speaking engagements, and my personal favorite: helping other missionaries build their partnership teams so they can get to the field as well. That season of ministry partnership development has a steep learning curve with many challenges, and I love sharing the things I’ve learned to help others along their way. international motorcycle licenses before June focus on the tasks at hand: speaking, leading, helping, packing, etc. the three other families who are preparing to arrive with us
