Goal/Objectives:

Purpose of Unit:

The purpose of this unit is to teach students about some of the challenges that face entrepreneurs starting a new business including ways to identify a market, reach the market, and keep the market.

This unit meets the Pennsylvania Department of Education and National Business Education Association State and National Standards in relation to business, computers, and information technology education.

Objectives:

Upon completion of this unit, the student will be able to:

Define vocabulary words by using them in their correct context during the final presentation with 100% accuracy.

Create a customer profile for a specific business to the satisfaction of the teacher. Create a product profile for a specific business based on the information gathered from the

customer profile to the satisfaction of the teacher. List the different factors that will affect pricing when dealing with supply and demand with 85%

accuracy. Prepare and present a final presentation to the satisfaction of the teacher using the checklists

provided to each student.

Topics and Outcomes:

Identifying the Market o Create a customer profile for a planned business. o Determine the wants of specific consumers. o Define and give examples of market segmentation o Define and give examples of target markets for specific products

Subject Area

This WebQuest is designed for teachers to use as an independent study tool for students to learn the necessary tools when it comes to entrepreneurship and marketing. It outlines such items as Customer Profiles, Market Segmentation, Target Markets, The Marketing Mix, and Overhead Costs. Students then produce a portfolio with the above items for future personal use. The purpose of this WebQuest is to teach students about some of the challenges that face entrepreneurs starting a new business including ways to identify a market, reach the market, and keep the market.

Learning Principles

Students will be able to identify, select, use, and customize application software that will aid in

the completion of a variety of tasks.

Students will be able to properly search the Internet using search skills learned prior and gather

information needed to complete tasks.
