• Can you define the term “pixel”?
From Pencil to Pixel• Pixel
– The information stored for a single grid point in the image.
– "Pixel" stands for Picture Element. It is the smallest part of every image you see on the monitor.

• .If you blow up a picture, you can get an idea of how the separate pixels work together to create a picture. Each square is the equivalent of a pixel when it is shrunk back down to normal size.
Create your own pixel art design!• Create a work of art on a grid that mimics
how computers use pixels to create an image
• Illustrate your name and something about you (hobby, sport etc.) or just a geometric design using pixels
• Draw in pencil first, after teacher approval add color!
• REMEMBER, only one color per pixel!• Neatness counts, computer art is not sloppy!

• Think of the graph paper as a computer screen
• Put your name in first. The letters can be thick or thin, but need to be at least on block wide
• Next work or weave in a design around and behind your name-use the whole space
• Finish by adding color

• Color in the squares that outline your object first, then color in the center!
• Keep your shapes, designs or objects simple!
• Choose a basic design, after you color it in, add more detail and more objects
