Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (2-0-3) fought its way to a lead on two separate occasions, but ultimately drew FC Cincinnati (2-1-2), 2-2, in front of a crowd of 24,505 people at Nippert Stadium. Extend- ing their unbeaten streak to five matches to start the season, the Hounds struck first early off a Jordan Dover tally (6’) and added another go-ahead goal late from Thomas Vancaeyezeele (73’), but on both occasions saw Cincinnati respond with equalizers in the 59th minute (Danni Konig) and 78th minute (Kenney Walker), respectively. Atlanta, new to the USL for this season, comes to Highmark on a short week after suffering its first loss of the year this past Tuesday. Heading into Saturday, the Hounds enter uncharted territory as their five-game unbeaten streak to open the season is the club’s best start in its 19-year history. The previous best was set by the 2000 squad, which went unbeaten in its first four (3-0-1). Currently, the Hounds are one of only two teams in the East - joining Louisville - and four overall in the USL - Las Vegas and Sacramento in addition out West - to currently hold the distinction of being unbeaten. Atlanta presents an interesting opponent for the Hounds, as the club is the B-side to its MLS counterpart, Atlanta United. Since becoming a part of the league framework in 2013, the Hounds have gone 13-10-7 against defined MLS “2” teams in 30 regular season games played. Pittsburgh’s faced much tougher competition from these “2” squads in the past two seasons with 20 of these matches occurring during this stretch and the Hounds holding a 6-8-6 record. After failing to score in their first two games, the Hounds are averaging 1.75 goals per game in their past four. Atlanta might provide further fireworks for the home crowd, as the club is one of only four teams in the USL yet to record a clean sheet and its eight goals allowed is tied for third-most in the East. One notable trend to take place for the Hounds this season is scoring production coming from a variety of sources. Pittsburgh’s seven goals scored this season have come from five different players. Of note, three of those players have found twine for the first time in their careers in defenders Tobi Adewole and Jordan Dover and rookie midfielder Thomas Vancaeyezeele. This weekend’s match presents the opportunity for the Hounds to return to .500 all-time at Highmark Stadium. Sitting current- ly at 27-28-21, a win against Atlanta would return Pittsburgh to even for the first time since May 3 of last season - a stretch of 14 home matches. Additionally, the club’s 2-0-1 record at home so far this season is its lone unbeaten start and best ever since beginning play at Highmark Stadium in 2013. 2018 SCHEDULE & RECORD League Record: 2-0-3 Home: 2-0-1 • Away: 0-0-2 • Non-League Play: 0-0-0 MARCH Sat. 24 @Nashville SC CW T, 0-0 Sat. 31 PENN FC CW T, 0-0 APRIL Sat. 7 TORONTO FC II YouTube W, 4-0 Sat. 14 OTTAWA FURY FC ESPN+ W, 1-0 Sat. 21 @FC Cincinnati CW T, 2-2 Sat. 28 ATLANTA UNITED 2 ESPN+ 7 p.m. MAY Sat. 5 @Toronto FC II CW 6 p.m. Fri. 11 INDY ELEVEN ESPN+ 7 p.m. Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round Two Wed. 16 @TBD N/A 7 p.m. Sat. 19 @Tampa Bay Rowdies CW 7:30 p.m. Sat. 26 PENN FC ESPN+ 7 p.m. Wed. 30 NASHVILLE SC ESPN+ 7 p.m. JUNE Sat. 2 @Richmond Kickers CW 7 p.m. Sat. 16 NEW YORK RED BULLS II CW 7 p.m. Sat. 23 @Charleston Battery CW 7 p.m. Wed. 27 @Louisville City FC ESPN+ 7 p.m. JULY Wed. 4 NORTH CAROLINA FC ESPN+ 7 p.m. Sun. 8 @Ottawa Fury FC ESPN+ 1 p.m. Sat. 21 CHARLESTON BATTERY ESPN+ 7 p.m. Sat. 28 @North Carolina FC CW 7 p.m. AUGUST Wed. 1 RICHMOND KICKERS ESPN+ 7 p.m. Sat. 4 TORONTO FC II ESPN+ 7 p.m. Sun. 12 @Bethlehem Steel FC CW 5 p.m. Sat. 18 CHARLOTTE INDEPENDENCE ESPN+ 7 p.m. Wed. 22 TAMPA BAY ROWDIES ESPN+ 7 p.m. Wed. 29 @Indy Eleven ESPN+ 7 p.m. SEPTEMBER Sat. 1 @FC Cincinnati CW 7:30 p.m. Sat. 8 BETHLEHEM STEEL FC ESPN+ 7 p.m. Sat. 15 LOUISVILLE CITY FC ESPN+ 7 p.m. Sat. 22 INDY ELEVEN ESPN+ 7 p.m. Wed. 26 @Penn FC ESPN+ 6:30 p.m. Sat. 29 @Charlotte Independence CW 7 p.m. OCTOBER Sat. 6 FC CINCINNATI ESPN+ 7 p.m. Wed. 10 @Atlanta United 2 ESPN+ 7 p.m. Sun. 14 @New York Red Bulls II CW 5 p.m. 2018 Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC > riverhounds.com > @RiverhoundsSC > #PGHvATL LAST TIME OUT Last Game Summary Riverhounds SC 2, FC Cincinnati 2 Game 5 Nippert Stadium April 21, 2018 INDIVIDUAL Category Riverhounds SC Opponent Points 7 - Neco Brett vs. Toronto (4/7) 2 - Two times Goals 3 - Neco Brett vs. Toronto (4/7) 1 - Two times Assists 1 - Five tied 1 - Corben Bone, Cincinnati (4/21) Shots 6 - Neco Brett vs. Toronto (4/7) 6 - Lebo Moloto, Nashville (3/24) SOG 3 - Neco Brett vs. Toronto (4/7) 2 - Lebo Moloto, Nashville (3/24) Saves 3 - Dan Lynd at Cincinnati (4/21) 4 - Romuald Peiser, Penn FC (3/31) TEAM Hounds High Hounds Low Category Opp High Opp Low 11 - vs. Toronto (4/7) 0 - Two times Points 5 - at Cincinnati (4/21) 0 - Four times 4 - vs. Toronto (4/7) 0 - Two times Goals 2 - at Cincinnati (4/21) 0 - Four times 3 - vs. Toronto (4/7) 0 - Two times Assists 1 - at Cincinnati (4/21) 0 - Four times 16 - vs. Toronto (4/7) 10 - Two times Shots 13 - at Cincinnati (4/21) 3 - vs. Ottawa (4/14) 4 - Two times 2 - Two times SOG 5 - at Cincinnati (4/21) 1 - Three times 3 - at Cincinnati (4/21) 1 - Four times Saves 4 - vs. Penn FC (3/31) 0 - Two times 16 - vs. Penn FC (3/31) 9 - at Nashville (3/24) Fouls 17 - at Cincinnati (4/21) 6 - vs. Toronto (4/7) SUPERLATIVES CLUB NOTABLES All-Time Leading Goal Scorer ......................................................................
