THE IDEA
• We want to create a promotional video aimed mainly towards prospective students, however we believe that we can make the video relevant to all those associated with Sheffield Hallam University.
• The university’s new logo and main color scheme will feature throughout the video in order to familiarize both new and old students and teachers with the university’s new identity. To help emphasis our professional ways of teaching and the employability of the students when they leave their course.
• Our idea is flexible and has the ability to cover almost any area of the uni and student life style, meaning that our product could be molded to whatever the client wants and can meet specific needs e.g. one of the aspects that the client wanted to portray was the employability of students after leaving hallam. With our product this can be easily achieved with a video of a past student who is now employed e.g. Danny/Marco talking about their jobs and also the statistics of employability.
HOW . . .
• By collecting the views and thoughts of current, and graduated students.
• Talking about Sheffield and how it is a progressive and exciting city.
• How Hallam is by students for students and allows student creativity to grow and develop in a safe and friendly atmosphere.
THE DIGITAL PROSPECTUS
• Using a variety of digital art software we will create a digital prospectus that is made up of a video interface displaying clips of current students , the Sheffield area and tutors.
• This interface resembles a web like structure that shows the protagonist interacting with the digital prospectus .
THE STORY BEHIND OUR IDEA
• The idea came from thinking back to our experience of choosing which university and course we wanted to do before we came to Hallam. The main idea is that the student is 'lost' and confused, doesn't know what to do about higher education. He/she then stumbles across a Sheffield Hallam University "prospectus" which shows them all of the facilities and opportunities Hallam has to offer them. As they look at all of the different video clips they get inspired and really want to come to Hallam university.
• The final scene shows the student choosing Hallam and literally jumping into the box which will then become the main scene of the outside of the main Hallam building where he is greeted by other Hallam students which are all wearing hoodies (including our main character) to symbolise he is now fully enrolled and part of the SHU family.
• At this point we are unsure of
the soundtrack that will be
used with our product,
whether to use an original
piece of music or to get
permission to use someone
elses. The music needs to be
catchy and upbeat.
• We will use both diegetic and
non-diegetic sounds as is
often done in music videos.
