Examples of the types of props we will be using in our film

The Plot

• Dolly shots of the Police car driving towards the scene, with movie titles and actors/actresses names or text containing information on the film, such as ‘ In the beginning’ appear in text interrupting the shots of the car. A description of the plot is also seen by text interrupting the film.

• A flash forward of a Police Officer unraveling police tape will be used.

• The plot for our film will consist of two Detectives arriving at the scene of a crime where a crime has been committed, (death) and the two Detectives are seen to be talking to another Officer who is already at the scene and he shares information on the crime in hand. Police tape surrounds the scene of the crime, which is being guarded by a Police Officer in high visibility jackets. A relative of the deceased arrives at the scene and an emotional response to the news of a death can be seen by her crying which creates sympathy with the character.

• Fast cuts will be used which refers to several consecutive shot shown for a brief duration. It can be used to convey a lot of information very quickly, or to imply energy or chaos.

• Many flashbacks and flash forward’s will be used in order to unravel the story of how the murder/death came to be. Close up and medium shots will be used to show the characters talking.

• There will be limited dialogue as this will help create as much tension and suspense as possible. However a script will be produced to show the characters talking as if there is not a script for the characters to follow the film itself will come across to the audience as amatuer and fake.

• At the end the audience will see the body lying on the floor with the flower pot, (murder weapon) smashed around the body, indicating that character ‘x’ has been murdered by the pot deliberately being dropped on his head.

Actors/Actresses

6 characters will be needed for the film:

• 2 male Detectives.• 1 male Police Officer at the scene of the crime.• 1 female relative of the deceased.• 1 male character who will play the deceased.• 1 female character who will act as a friend

who was at the scene when it happened

Location• The main location of the film will be on the driveway and road surrounding the house.

• The inside of the house will also be briefly be used. Specifically the front door and the porch.

• When using dolly shot’s for the Police car, roads surrounding the house will be used.

• The choice of location shows realism and one that audiences can relate to.

Music• http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xph6dFDcOLs

• The type of music we will use has been influenced by one of the film’s we researched soundtrack. This film is Man on a Ledge and the music is called ‘The Getaway’. At the beginning of our film we want music that will build suspense and mystery fitting in with the key features of Crime Drama so this music seems appropriate and fits well to the overall mood.

• This music is good as it begins with a slow, low pitched note and gradually builds up creating tension and feeding the audiences knowledge of the type of mood the scene will be in.

This track named ‘-fly-by’ Was also from the film Man on a Ledge and is also a good example of the type of music we will use. Like ‘The Getaway’ this sound involves a low pitched, long held note at the beginning and then at the middle a dramatic changes and many instruments are layered together creating a very serious, dark toned, dramatic mood. This works well for our film as we do not want it to be too much like a thriller however we want it to mostly stick with the theme of crime so this suits well to play at the opening sequence.
