Spring Bluff R-XV School Newsletter Welcome Spring! We welcomed spring after a very long winter at “The Bluff”! DESE extended the MAP testing window, so we did as well giving our third-eighth grade students the MAP & EOC assessments May 5-16. Kindergarten – 2nd grade were administered the Terra Nova May 12-16. The district missed a total of 11 inclement weather days. The last day of school was
May 30.

United Way Peanut Butter &
Jelly Drive Students, teachers & staff collected 67 items
of peanut butter & jelly for the Meramec
Community Mission the week of April 14.
Students who participated were eligible to
place their name in a drawing for two movie
passes to Sullivan 6 Cinema. Cambrian Koch,
2nd grade, and Emma Brune, 3rd Grade, were
the winners of the passes, but all participants were winners in helping others!
8th Grade Graduation
Kindergarten Graduation Kindergarten Graduation was held on
Tuesday, May 27 with twenty students
graduating during the event.
Kindergarten students recited their name,
birthday, phone number and shared what
they want to be when they grow up. It’s
always an exciting time to see how far they
have come in such a short time. ☺

The Spring Bluff R-XV School District held
8th grade graduation on Thursday, May 29.
Twenty-nine students received their 8th
grade diploma during the ceremony.
Alexcis Brock was recognized as
Valedictorian of the class and Alexis
Blankenship was recognized as the
Salutatorian. Alexcis Brock, Alexis
Blankenship, Sophia Sellers, and Landan
Wiese were recognized as honor graduates
for having achieved an A or A- average in
grades 6th-8th grades. Please look further in
this newsletter for a list of the graduates
and other honors awarded.
Class Trips Each of our classes enjoyed end-of-the-year
trips accompanied by parents & other family
members. In accordance with district policy,
each chaperone completed a background
check prior to accompanying the trip using
their state-issued photo identification. The
district appreciates the support of our parents
& guests who understand keeping our students safe is a top priority.

Spring 2014 was very welcome at “The Bluff”!
It seemed like winter would never end with
our final snow days in March! What a year!
DESE extended the MAP testing window due
to the severe winter weather, so we did as
well MAP & EOC testing students May 5-16 in
grades 3-8 and administering the Terra Nova
in grades K-2 May 12-16.
To address the eleven inclement weather
days we missed, the district shortened breaks
and extended the school year to May 30,
2014 to make-up nine of the missed days and
accepted two forgiveness days.

for 2014-15 was sent home with each child with the Friday
Newsletter this spring. Please consult your medical provider
with any questions you might have about your child’s status
on immunizations to ensure they are current.
Emma Brune, Hero of Hope
Emma Brune, 3rd grade student, has been chosen
Franklin County Relay for Life Hero of Hope.
To support her team, the students and staff held
“Hats on for Emma Day” and raised $242.36! Way
to go!
In addition, the teachers and staff donated their
Friday Dress Down funds for the month of April to
Emma’s team, too! Go Team Emma!
Summer School is being held at Spring Bluff R-XV from Monday, June 2-Wednesday, June 25. The district will have a Monday-Thursday weekly schedule and 7:25 a.m.-3:00 p.m. daily schedule. We are very excited to have a special program this year for our 5th-8th grade students that will include a technology component designed to give the students a jumpstart on working with laptops for 5th grade and chromebooks for 6th-8th
grade for the 2014-15 school year.
