Pipe Segment 2InstructionsFlow Rate (GPM)550This spreadsheet is designed to calculate pipe and fitting friction for onePipe ID (Inches)6to three pipe segments. The Hazen & Williams equation and C values are Pipe Length (Feet)1000used for all friction calculations. This provides flexibility when workingHazen & Williams C Value100with both new and old piping systems.Calculated ResultsEnter the required data in the four yellow cells for one, two or three pipeVelocity in Ft/sec6.2segments. The calculated results will appear below. Click on the FittingVelocity Head in Ft0.6Calcs tab to enter the fitting data. Click on the box that corresponds to aFriction / 100 Feet of Pipe4.1desired fitting and its size. Enter the number of fittings used in that pipeTotal Pipe Friction40.5pipe section. Enter the quantities of any other fittings in the appropriate box.Fitting Equivalent Length24.3Note that each pipe section has its own fitting selector. If a particular fittingTotal Fitting Friction1.0is not shown, you may enter it manually in one of the bottom lines. You willTotal Friction Losses Segment 241.5have to look up the "equivalent pipe length" and enter it in Column Q. TheTotal Friction Losses 1 & 242.2value should be the total equivalent length for the number of fittings you entered. Fitting equivalent length and total fitting friction will be displayedPipe Segment 3in the calculated results for each pipe section.Flow Rate (GPM)Pipe ID (Inches)The example included is for a submersible sewage pump. Pipe segment 1 runsPipe Length (Feet)from the pump connection inside the wet well to a valve box located outsideHazen & Williams C Valuethe wet well. It includes 30' of 4" pipe, a 90 deg elbow, a check valve and a gate valve. Segment 2 runs from the valve box to a gravity main. It includesCalculated Results1000' of 6" pipe, two 45 deg elbows and two gate valves. The total friction forVelocity in Ft/secERROR:#DIV/0!Segment 1 is 13.7' and the total for Segment 2 is 41.5'.
