Giving opportunities to the young minds of KVs to attend a residential camp of 3 days duration in an unknown camp site have enabled them to become self-reliant and adoptive. It is the honour bestowed upon me by the KVS RO Chennai to be the LOC of the TSTC, 2011 (District IV) . My heartfelt gratitude to one and all (KVS RO, KV NTPC, Escort teachers & Scouts) for their support, co-operation and committed involvement in conducting this camp successfully. Scouting is a feeling. Scouting is

an experience. Scouting is the way

of our life. Giving opportunities to

the young minds of KVs to attend a

residential camp of 3 days duration

in an unknown camp site have

27/09/2011— SECOND DAY

26/09/2011—FIRST DAY The first day of the

camp i.e. 26/09/2011, started

with the rouse of the scouts at

5:30 am. The scouts were taught

BP’s Six exercises for the

effective starting of the day’s

programme.

At 10:00 am, we had the inaugural

ceremony. The Chief guest of the

day Mr.Arun Prakash Trivedi, GM,

NTPC Kayamkulam and Chairman,

KV NTPC, Kayamkulam and

Mr.Thomas Varkey, DGM, Nominee

Chairman, KV NTPC were

welcomed in the ceremonial way in

the form of Colour party and

Guard of Honour by the scouts.

The Chief guest stressed in his

inaugural address that the scouts

should always be ready to help

others and think to go beyond.

After the inauguration and the

flag break ceremony, we had tea

break. Then the participants had

their first written test…Pravesh

Written test. After the lunch, we

had a sing song session led by

Mrs.Jayakala, Music Teacher of

KV NTPC Kayamkulam .All the

songs of the All Faith Prayer were

taught during the session. After

the sing song session, the scouts

had their pratham sopan written

test.

After the evening tea break, the

scouts had oral test wherein items

like scout prayer song, flag song,

national anthem, scout law and

scout promise were tested by the

officials. After the lively test, the

scouts had some thrilling games.

The day’s programmes came to an

end.

The officials and the escort

teachers had their meeting at

6:30 pm.

By the time, the scouts were

permitted to get themselves

ready for the campfire

programme, which they presented

around 9:00 pm in the vidyalaya

open stadium. We had 13

programmes all together.

After the campfire, the camp

director hold a meeting with the

officials and the escort teachers

at 10:00 pm and lights went off in

the camp at 10:30 pm.

pole and the pioneering projects.

After the lunch, we had sing song

session led by Mrs.Jayakala, Music

Teacher of KV NTPC, Kayamkulam.

After the practice for the all

faith prayer is over, a team of

scouts from every vidyalaya was

sent to the open ground with all

the necessary materials to prepare

improvised tents and flagpoles. At

the same time, other scouts were

taught and tested various knots

and hitches like reef knot,

fireman’s chair knot, draw hitch,

fisherman knot, sheep shank, sheet

bend, clove hitch, bowline etc.

After having evening tea with

Sukiyan, the scouts continued

their practicals till 5:00 pm. The

scouts had their practice for the

grand campfire from 5:00 pm to

7:00 pm.

The chief gust of the Day Mr.Arun

Prakash Trivedi, GM, NTPC,

Kayamkulam and family arrived the

venue at 8:00 pm. He was

accompanied by Mr.Krishna kumar,

Manager & family, Mr.Thomas

Varkey, DGM, Nomineer Chairman,

NTPC, Kayamkulam and

Mr.Subramanian, AGM, NTPC

Kayamkulam and other dignitatires

of the sponsoring agency.

The Grand camp fire

started at 9:00 pm after the

grand feast. The programme went

on up to 10:30 pm with colour ful

events presented by the scouts

and the action songs, claps and

yells by the scoutmasters. All the

guests of the day expressed their

surprise on the quality, creativity

and joyful items presented in the

grand campfire. The camp went for

its lights off at 11:00 pm

The second day started

with the rouse at 5:30 am and

testing of BP’S Six exercises by

the escort teachers. The kit

inspection was also held wherein

the officials visited the dens of

the scouts to check their uniform,

turnout, cleanliness and gadget

preparation standards.

After having breakfast, the scouts

had their uniform test and Dwitiya

sopan written test. After the tea

break, the scouts were taught to

sing certain action songs.

After the tea break, the tritiya

sopan written test was conducted.

Then, came the most awaited

session taken by the officials i.e.

demo class by Mr.P.M.Vasu and

Mr.Rajan, on various knots, hitches

and lashings needed to be learnt

by the scouts in order to prepare

improvised tent, improvised flag

On the third day, all the scouts took part in

the All Faith Prayer at 7:00 am in a solemn

way praying the almighty, respecting

different religions sitting in a single

platform.

After the all faith prayer, we had the flag

break ceremony wherein the camp director

congratulated all the scouts for their

wonderful performance in the grand

campfire. Then, the camp director visited all

the improvised tents, flag poles and the

monkey bridge made by the scouts and was

of full praise for them.

Then the scouts had their breakfast,

followed by interesting sessions taken by

the officials. Various aspects of first aid

were covered by Mr.Rajan and Mr.P.M.Vasu,

the camp officials, including all the practical

concepts like bandages and slings.

It was followed by a song session by

Mr.K.Ramasamy, LOC and a demo session

wherein the children were taught and given

a chance to practice ‘ how to receive the

certificate from the chief guest’.

After the tea break, a session on

Estimation, Mapping and Compass was

handled by Mr.K.Ramasamy, LOC of the

Camp.

Afterwards, the scouts had an open talk

wherein the scouts and the escort

teachers got their doubts clarified with

regard to their further progress in the

movement.

in the valedictory ceremony, which was

held at 3:00 pm, the scouts were blessed

with Shri.Anilkumar, Sub-Inspector of Police, as

the chief guest.

The flag lowering ceremony of this camp was held

after the valedictory function in the ceremonial

way.

Then, the scouts returned the camp gears and

took a leave of a memorable camp.
