Board of Education Goals

1. Pioneer Schools will provide multiple opportunities and variety of formats (social media) for parents and students to receive support in the implementation of the Common Core Learning Standards.

2. The BOE will continue to collaborate with administrative team on ways to increase

time with students and teachers to enhance relationships and supports.

3. The BOE will inform the school community of district initiatives through a multitude of resources.

7.7 Consideration of a motion upon the recommendation of the Superintendent that one

position of Registered Nurse be abolished effective June 30, 2016. This position is presently staffed by Barbara Zepp who will be retiring on June 30, 2016.

7.8 Consideration of a motion upon the recommendation of the Superintendent to authorize

Food Service Director, Catherine Pritchard to apply for the Summer Food Service program and to sign all reports and claims in the administration of the program.

7.9 Consideration of a motion upon the recommendation of the Superintendent to authorize management to establish, adjust or replenish reserves as of year-end. The establishment, adjustment or replenishment will not be determined until the 2015-2016 books have been officially closed. 7.18 RESOLVED, that, acting pursuant to Section 913 of the New York State Education Law, this

Board of Education hereby directs Darren Nahs to submit to medical examinations by Brian Joseph, M.D., who is hereby appointed as a school medical inspector of this District for the purpose of conducting this examination, in order to determine Mr. Nahs’ physical and/or mental capacity to perform his duties. Such examination shall be conducted in accordance with the provisions of Section 913 and the report thereof shall be transmitted to this Board of Education and may be referred to and considered for the evaluation of the service of Mr. Nahs. Mr. Nahs is hereby directed to cooperate with the Superintendent of Schools in making the necessary appointment with Dr. Joseph.

8.7 Consideration of a motion upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, Jessica Eckel,

who holds initial New York State Teacher Certificates permitting her to teach in the Birth-2 and Grades 1-6 certification areas in the public schools of New York State, is hereby appointed to the position of teacher in the tenure area of Elementary Education for a probationary period of four (4) years, to commence on July 1, 2016 and to end on June 30, 2020. Eligibility for tenure at the end of the probationary period is dependent on Jessica Eckel receiving APPR ratings of Effective or Highly Effective in three (3) of four (4) preceding years and no Ineffective composite overall rating in the final year. The expiration date of this probationary appointment is tentative and conditional only. In order to be eligible for and considered for tenure, the teacher must meet all requirements of the educational law and corresponding regulations. The salary during the first year of the appointment will be at Step 3 in accordance with the salary schedule as outlined in the Pioneer Faculty Association’s Collective Bargaining Agreement.

8.8 Consideration of a motion upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, Jessica

Maiorana (Mueller), who holds initial New York State Teacher Certificates permitting her to teach in the Grades 1-6 certification area in the public schools of New York State, is hereby appointed to the position of teacher in the tenure area of Elementary Education for a probationary period of four (4) years, to commence on July 1, 2016 and to end on June 30, 2020. Eligibility for tenure at the end of the probationary period is dependent on Jessica Maiorana (Mueller) receiving APPR ratings of Effective or Highly Effective in three (3) of four (4) preceding years and no Ineffective composite overall rating in the final year. The expiration date of this probationary appointment is tentative and conditional only. In order to be eligible for and considered for tenure, the teacher must meet all requirements of the educational law and corresponding regulations. The salary during the first year of the appointment will be at Step 2 in accordance with the salary schedule as outlined in the Pioneer Faculty Association’s Collective Bargaining Agreement.
