ASIA: Philippines• CIP’s developed a “Farmer Business School” (FBS). FBS is being piloted with 6

farmer groups in Philippines (roots and tuber, vegetables, coffee and pigs). (IFAD investment project CHARMP2), with CIP-Food START acting as advisors/mentors/trainers.

• The first cycle and final business launch event will be held in July 2013.• Coordination with CRP-RTB.

Delivery products5. PHASE 1 PMCA VALUE CHAIN ASSESSMENTS ACROSS REGIONS AND COUNTRIES COMPLETED

SSA. Multi-country training in PMCA conducted with participants from NARIs, NGOs, and the private sector. Working with partners to mainstream gender in PMCA.

-Three gender based VC tools developed and tested in multi-country PMCA application: Tool 1 "gender mapping of the value chain", tool2 “activities profiles and constrains", tool3 "risk and benefit analysis". -A Workshop on “Gender and PMCA " has been realized in Entebbe (Uganda) from 22-25 April 2013. Co-Funded by CRP2.

- A draft paper to be published in the African Potato Association on the experiences with the tools.

• Pilot testing of CIP “Farmer Business School” (FBS) with six farmer groups in Philippines (IFAD Charm investment project) completed in July 2013.

• Assessment of FBS approach and expansion to 30 groups for the second cycle, (to start in September 2013) to cover all commodities.

• Impact at micro-level in Ecuador and Peru on Potato Value chain, using indicators of yield, gross margins at household level.

postharvest technologies, value chains, and market opportunities” ( Cali, Colombia February 2013)

• Presenting a funding proposal to RTB complementary funding to complement theme 6 on crosscutting gender VC research ( June 2013).
