Our lens science is used by more World Champion shotgun shooters than any other brand. Pilla Light Management Technology: The key to our lens technology is based on regulation of the proper amount of light into the eye while harnessing our high defi nition color enhancement technology for maximum athletic performance. Regulation of light into the eye for sport is critical and often neglected by professionals. When too much light is delivered to the eye the result is a necessity to squint or retard the light. This reaction has two signifi cant effects on eye performance and ultimately on the athlete; 1. Eye fatigue 2. Lack of focal ability of the eye.

Eye fatigue is a key contributor to the loss of crisp eye/hand coordination. When the eye is strained through either squinting to reduce bright light into the eye or straining for light, meaning not enough light to the eye, the result is a quick loss of focus and sharp vision.

The obvious result in sport is not acceptable to the athlete. An athlete diligently works on training for endurance, stamina, strength, and routinely trains for perfection in their chosen passion through practice. The TomcatLike the Outlaw, Tomcat weighs in at well under an ounce and distributes it evenly so you feel like you aren’t even wearing eyewear. The lenses are interchangeable and the nose is adjustable.

The Carbon Fiber Fork Temple is a proprietary patented design providing perfect molding of the head while reducing any discomfort felt with traditional designs. It is longer than traditional designs to provide a cradle effect for the eyewear.

Lenses are interchangeable with our patented lens anchor technology. A bolt is threaded into the lens and hooks onto two places on the frame, so changing is very easy and no tools are required.

The Puma ProThe Puma Pro frame offers an oversized site picture in the middle of the lens over the nose without visual interruption. The height of the lens allows a shooter to get extremely deep into the stock. Because of the innovative temple attachment, the front bar can easily be removed so that the fully adjustable temple can be attached to another lens.

All Puma models include blinders that meets the international standard. The frame can be used with or without the blinder, which is attached by way of a snap.

Nose PiecePanther Pro ships with the Standard Nose Yoke. Saddle option is available.

The Puma Post ProWith 5 positions spanning 10mm, the Puma Post Pro provides signifi cant vertical adjustment of the frame. lenses, using an easy changing system and a secure attachment to the frame. Competitors’ frame designs have tabs that hold lenses in the frames, causing them to be become loose over and time and making the process of changing lenses diffi cult. Because the Pilla lens is so strong, a bolt can be drilled directly into the lens without cracking or compromise. With over 50,000 lenses in the fi eld in this design, Pilla has never received a cracked lens back.

THE SEBRING LENS ANCHOR™ SYSTEM This patented system was designed to overcome two major issues present in all frames that offer lens interchangeability...

1. COMPETITORS POSTS BEND AND CREATE FIT PROBLEMS FOR LENSES.Over time, this becomes a bigger problem as lenses will not fi t securely in the frame. Pilla created the “lens anchor” system to provide perfect fi t without the possibility of the lens becoming loose. Since we use our exclusive Ballistx HDX lenses, which are made of a bullet-proof material, we can drill the lens without risk of cracking, allowing us to thread a bolt directly into the lens. This bolt then slides into a channel on the frame for a tight secure fi t.

2. CHANGING A LENS IS TYPICALLY VERY DIFFICULT.Pilla’s patented “Lens Anchor” allows the user to quickly and easily change the lens.

• The Hornet is a frame that weighs only 1 ounce.

• The Hornet is our largest two lens design using 80mm lenses to achieve a proprietary ‘Tab” wrap design.

Frame Overview• The Hornet uses a straight temple, not to be confused with Pilla’s

adjustable temple; there is no wrap around the ear. This provides superior comfort for all-day wear on the range or in the fi eld. The frame uses a fi xed nose that can be spread or narrowed by hand to fi t a variety of nose shapes.

• Prescription Lenses are full lenses with no insert.

• A mild level of correction is acceptable for use in the Hornet, optimally not more than + or – 2.00.

PILLA PRO LINE

The Hornet ProThe Hornet Pro has a uniquely shaped lens “Tab” for additional protection from stray light and shot. Additionally, the extended wrap protects from the wind and reduces eye tearing. The straight temple can be manually adjusted to bend to the shape of the head, if needed, for maximum comfort.

This clever design features minimal distance between lenses and no visual interruption of the site picture through the bridge.

Frame AdvantagesLenses are easy to change with the Hornet Pro, they slide right into the frame through the anchor system. The extra narrow DBL (distance between lenses) allows for no visual interruption through the middle of the bridge area. Because the nose bridge is only 3mm it is completely invisible to the frame. Perfect for high house “2” and “7,” with the Hornet you’ll never lose track of the fl ight of the target again.

1. COMPETITORS POSTS BEND AND CREATE FIT PROBLEMS FOR LENSES.Over time, this becomes a bigger problem as lenses will not fi t securely in the frame. Pilla created the “lens anchor” system to provide perfect fi t without the possibility of the lens becoming loose. Since we use our exclusive Ballistx Sport lenses, which are made of a bullet-proof material, we can drill the lens without risk of cracking, allowing us to thread a bolt directly into the lens. This bolt then slides into a channel on the frame for a tight secure fi t.

The CorsaFrame OverviewThe Corsa is sleek, light and very comfortable for all day use. Made out of a light weight, indestructible material, the large eye size of this sport wrap provides the wearer with complete 180 degree peripheral vision. The vented temple circulates air through the frame behind the lenses. It exhausts out a vented foam brow bar to prevent fogging. The temple arms are made of Hytrel, a sport specifi c material that forms to the head through use, so the comfort will increase over time. Additionally, the material becomes tacky to prevent movement of the frame on the head. The bridge has soft megol nose pads that become softer through use.

MANUFACTURING FACTSBallistx vs. Polycarbonate

STEP ONE:Our Ballistx lens material starts as a liquid not a solid. What this means is the material has not had any stress imposed on it from heat to make the liquid.

BALLISTX STARTS AS A LIQUID=NO HEAT NO HEAT=NO STRESS

STEP TWO:Pilla Performance Eyewear uses casting with glass molds in manufacturing our state-of-the-art lenses. Glass molds allow us to perfectly polish the surface of the molds so the lenses do not have any imperfections. The net result of a perfectly polished mold is light is not bent when it hits the lens surface. There is no refraction to distort the image.

GLASS MOLD CASTING=PERFECT LENS SURFACE

STEP THREE:Ballistx lens material is poured into the glass molding cast under ZERO pressure and NO heat and NO thermal or linear expansion to introduce distortion. This creates a molding situation with no part of the process stressing the material. This again provides the optimal situation for a lens without distortion.

ZERO HEAT= NO STRESSZERO PRESSURE=NO STRESS

STEP FOUR:WE WAIT…. Ballistx lenses take over 1 day to cure. This is a critical step of the process which is again completely different from Polycarbonate production. This slow curing process of the lens produces no stress on the material. Additionally, the hardening of the lens is extremely strong given the molecular structure is not forced to cool quickly.

CURING=NO STRESS

Ballistx Lenses pass the following standards: ANSI Z87.1, ANSI Z80.3, AS1067-2003, EN1836-2005. With respect to ANSI Z87.1, Ballistx exceeds the High Velocity impact test and the High Mass Test.

STEP ONE: Polycarbonate arrives to the manufacturing facility as a solid (Polycarbonate in a hardened state). High heat is applied to the hardened polycarbonate to turn the material into a liquid. Basic chemistry dictates that when you move a solid to a liquid you have changed the molecular structure. This translates to stress on the material.

STRESS=DISTORTION

STEP TWO:Once Polycarbonate is turned into a liquid under high heat, the liquid is forced under extreme pressure into a metal mold.

HIGH PRESSURE=STRESSAgain contributing to haze and distortion.

STEP THREE: The use of metal molds is a contributing factor in further heightening the distorting nature of a polycarbonate lens as the surfaces of the lens are not perfect. Metal molds cannot be polished fi ne enough to produce surface without fi ssures. Further distortion is introduced into the polycarbonate lens by the use of metal molds by what is called “Linear expansion”, which is the rapid expansion and contraction of the metal due to rapid temperature changes. These small imperfections of the molds are transferred directly to the front and back of the lens surfaces. You cannot see these with the naked eye, though when light hits the surface of the lens it does not go perfectly through the lens. Light is bent in many directions, called refractions, creating a fuzzy and hazy visual experience.

STEP FOUR:Once the polycarbonate is forced into the metal mold under extreme pressure, the material is fl ash cooled. This process takes less than a second. Basic chemistry again tells us that when a solid is quickly cooled it creates stress on the material. Additionally, the polycarbonate material, even though it is cooled very quickly, it does not do so uniformly across the entire lens. This again translates to distortion in the lens material.

New for 2010HDX Hydrolio Coating

Hydrolio coatings are exclusive to Pilla Performance Eyewear. This technology is a front-side lens coating that has both Hydrophobic qualities as well as Oleophobic qualities. The combined coating creates superior performance in both technological advancements of hydrophobics and oleophobics...

Hydrolio by Pilla:1. Sheet water directly off the front of the lens.2. Reduce smudging of fi nger prints.3. Adds a hard coat for easy cleaning and added scratch resistance.

Pilla uses this high performance coating to help our lenses perform in adverse weather conditions and to make the lens easy to clean while adding a hard coat to the front side of the lens. The coating is an extremely slippery technology that sheets water from the lens surface. Additionally, the Hydrolio coating helps create a hard surface to the lens adding additional scratch resistance while making the lens extremely easy to clean from oily fi nger prints.

We have added Hydrolio coatings to all our Ballistx lenses and are now available in all our Ballistx Rx lenses as an upgrade.

How Our Coatings are AppliedVacuum Coating

Pilla Performance Eyewear uses state of the art techniques to manufacture our lenses with optical clarity and application of the coating.

Following the casting of our lenses, which cures for over a day, the lenses are transferred to an area of our manufacturing facility where we apply our coatings in a completely dust free environment in a Vacuum Chamber. We place our lenses on a dish that looks like a satellite dish to evenly distribute the lenses and provide proper airfl ow. In the Vacuum Chamber the coating is misted from the ceiling and sucked with high volume airfl ow through the bottom of the chamber. This provides an even application of all our coatings to the entire lens surface. There is no build up of excess coating anywhere on the lens. This provides an even coating of our Dielectric Flashing as well as our Anti-Refl ective and Hydrolio coatings. These coatings will never wear off the lens and the process produces state-of-the-art results with no adverse effect on the optics of the lens.

Pilla uses state-of-the art anti-refl ective coatings. These coatings prevent any stray light from effecting vision from both the front side and backside of the lens. These coatings provide a crisp visual experience.

HDX Dielectric Flashing

Accelerate Light and Reduce Glare–Pilla uses Dielectric Flashing, an advanced technology, to give our Ballistx Diamond Vision Lenses an additional high performance feature. Our Dielectric Flashing is a multi-layer coating system that is absorptive in nature to increase the performance of light transmission.

Our Flash technology accelerates light and reduces glare through the lens creating brighter site pictures. This brighter site picture enhances the high contrast and color. Additionally, the Flashing performance feature helps to cut environmental glare.

Our Dielectric Flashing produces a slight “Mirror” effect to our lenses. This is not a bold refl ective mirror that you fi nd in fashion sunglasses. Our Flashing produces a soft stylish effect to the lens while intensifying available light and reducing glare.

The coating on our HDX Ballistx lenses is applied in a vacuum chamber to achieve an even fi nish across the entire lens surface with no distortion.

15% LTM – Full Sun Lens – An optimized solution for use in full sun where the eye needs to fi lter the majority of light.

25%R LTM – Full Sun High Contrast - This lens is an excellent choice to fi lter bright sun while relaxing your eye for perfect target registration. The eye must not squint in bright sun as this strains the eye introducing both eye fatigue and reduced ability for critical focus.

50%R LTM – Cloudy Over/Cast High Contrast – This lens performs very well in medium light conditions. It is important to use the proper lens in this condition so the eye does not strain to fi nd balanced light into the eye. When too little light is transmitted to the eye the result is reduced focus ability resulting in fuzzy sight pictures.

Pilla has developed a new high contrast high defi nition lens family based on the objective of maximizing color enhancement of a White Flyer clay targets while also introducing a greater amount of saturated contrast than any other lens family we offer for clay target sports. The resulting technology of the High Contrast lens family is to provide skeet and trap shooters with the required maximum visual registration of a target given the short window of visual acquisition presented to the shooter. Pilla has developed the most technical light management target enhancing technology on the market. Our Max Orange collection is exclusively manufactured for use in clay shooting. We have created a visual enhancement of White Flyer target orange by 600% over a standard lens. The visual part of the light spectrum relating to Orange is spiked to provide maximum registration of orange while introducing a signifi cant level of contrast.

DEPTH OF FIELD – It is important to recognize that there is a proper balance of color enhancement for maximum performance of the eye to gauge depth of fi eld. It is particularly critical in shooting sports. Without proper registration of depth of fi eld you can not recognize speed distance and trajectory of the desired target. Whether a Clay target or a fl ushing bird. We provide full registration of the entire color spectrum with our lenses. We do not tint what you see robbing the eye of the ability to see the complete visual color spectrum. This is extremely important to recognize about our technology.

If you are using lenses that turn what you see one color, you are robbing your eye of the ability to see depth of fi eld.

HD Polar Varia – A high performance polarizing lens that changes light transmittance from 25% to 10%. A great full sun lens which changes to perform in low light.

HD POLAR 6% – Perfect for situations with heavy amounts of refl ected light in a full sun situation. When the sun is lower in the sky bouncing signifi cant levels of light off surfaces. (Fisherman that are light sensitive. This is a must)

HD Varia 25 – A high performance lens formulation that saturates color with crisp defi nition with high contrast. A great lens for hunting in the fi eld that is well balanced to wear all day long with no eye-strain or fatigue. This lens changes from 25% to 8% transmission. A great all around lens which transitions to full sun.

HD POLAR 8% – A Copper Based Full Sun HD lens. This lens is a great solution for individuals looking for effi cient polarization with color enhancement.

HD Varia 65 – We developed this lens to perform in a wide range of lighting conditions. This lens works extremely well in low light allowing 65% of the available light through the lens. When conditions brighten, this new technology darkens to 15% transmittance. A well balanced full sun lens.

The combination of the Varia 25 and Varia 65 lens provide a complete light management system for all day fi eld use. We offer these lenses in 2 lens kits.

HD POLAR 12% – This is our all around Polarizer. Rich high defi nition color that is well balanced.

HD Polar 20% – This is a low light lens that maintains proper polarizing effi ciency. Perfect in overcast conditions.

Note: When high transmittance of light is necessary, (meaning more light traveling through the lens) polarization effi ciency drops considerably. The necessity for polarization is not necessary.

HD VARIA - LIGHT REGULATION STANDARD HD – HIGH DEFINITION POLARIZED- MAX GLARE REDUCTION

Our exclusive lens formulation that changes allowing more or less light through the lens depending on the lighting condition. The transition from a dark lens to a light colored lens and back is extremely effi cient.

Pilla uses a proprietary high defi nition technology called ColorTrast™ in our HD Ballistx lenses: both prescription and nonprescription. Our sole focus with our Polarized collection of lenses is to create the fi nest performing polarized lenses on the market while providing high defi nition vision. The key to realize is that total polarization (99.5 or 100%) robs the eye of the ability to see true defi nition. True high defi nition is seen when some amount of light refl ects off the edges of objects or surfaces. This is why the use of polarization can quickly have an adverse effect on athletic performance. When polarization is not regulated properly through state of the art polarizing techniques, a fl attening of the visual image is experienced. The result is a lack of the eyes ability to perform and see properly. When polarizers are developed for marketing campaigns to make ridiculous claims (100% polarization), the result is a compromise in performance. Our high defi nition polarizing lenses are developed for maximum effi ciency to provide proper registration of high defi nition. We regulate and cut glare completely without reducing performance. We do not fl atten what you see. We cut maximum glare while providing rich vibrant color and defi nition.
