FUTURE CONCEPTSCHALLENGE Future Concepts, a well established salon and spa, was seeking to

“revive” its brand and the space that it occupied for the past 10 years. The existing

space had too many walls, separate rooms, and was generally cluttered with many

product offerings and individual graphic elements. The goal was to create a more

open and inviting space for the customers.

SOLUTION Pictura was provided the opportunity to develop solutions that

afforded the client with a unique look and feel, as well as accommodate budget

constraints. Exterior signage and window treatments reflected the company’s new

brand identity. The interior space was completely reconfigured and wall graphic

treatments and canvas wrapped frames communicated the new brand. The design

incorporated expensive fabricated acrylic separation panels in the focal areas, which

Pictura was able to re-design and digitally print and reduce the cost of this solution

by 40%.

RESULTS The salon and spa received the much needed branding update that the

company was seeking. Pictura was very integrated in the design, fabrication and installa-

tion process, which was instrumental in the success of the project.

REGENCY BEAUTY INSTITUTECHALLENGE Regency Beauty Academy was purchased by Hayes Boston who

pledged to redefine beauty education by creating a network of convenient, upscale,

retail oriented campuses. The name Regency Beauty Institute was adopted to

better reflect this vision. The challenge was to develop a new visual design for the

campus location that better reflected the new positioning of the company.

SOLUTION The client selected fresh, updated beauty inspired images for

graphic and visual applications. The printed graphic elements consisted of larger

than life images on canvas, wall covering, and general signage. Regulatory require-

ments for each location required effective management of variable data. Magnetic

technology was utilized for service menus to enhance the ability for change out of

information to keep information up to date. Pictura also provides ongoing signage

and promotion needs for all campuses.

RESULTS Regency established a learning and retail environment that encourages

continuous growth in location in the community. The challenge was to increase enroll-

ment and services, which the client continues to experience. There are currently 63

campuses with additional growth anticipated in 2010.

REEBOK / CCMCHALLENGE Montreal-based Sport Maska Inc. battles tough competitors to gain

market share for their flagship hockey brands, Reebok and CCM. Like many product

marketers targeting the hockey market, Sport Maska was finding it difficult to reach key

consumers through traditional channels such as direct mail and print advertising. In a

strategic shift, the company focused more on point of purchase marketing, specifically

the deployment of large-format graphics at key hockey retail locations throughout North

America.

SOLUTION Pictura Graphics worked with the brand teams, regional sales representa-

tives and dealer contacts to develop a more custom, print-on-demand approach. Key

retail dealers now had greater input and dialogue with the Sport Maska sales teams to

create graphics that supported current and future inventory within the stores. Graphic

products included banners, perforated window graphics, wall coverings, floor coverings,

vehicle wraps, fixture graphics and portable exhibits – each fitted to the available space

and product inventory of the respective dealer. Pictura was very involved in managing

the process, communicating with regional sales representatives, dealers and working

closely with the Montreal-based brand teams to design the graphics and coordinate

installation.

RESULTS The custom graphics approach helped Sport Maska to achieve higher rates

of brand penetration at key dealer locations and eliminated significant waste from unused

graphics. It also provided for more cost efficient ways to utilize player and product

images, allowing for easy and cost-effective changes when necessary. In addition to the

design, production and installation of the graphics, Pictura contributed to the Dealer

Graphics Program presented by management at Sport Maska Inc.’s 2010 Sales Meeting.

EQ LIFECHALLENGE When the team at eq-life (Best Buy’s concept store focused on health,

wellness and technology), assessed its initial visual merchandising scheme, they knew some-

thing was out of balance. The company prided itself on offering a unique customer-focused

retail experience as they seek a healthy body and mind, but the original design of its

flagship location seemed less than conducive to helping its customers find inner peace.

SOLUTION Pictura quickly became a valued strategic partner, helping eq-life revisit the

look of its store. Armed with innovative problem-solving skills, creativity, and a broad depth

of products and services, Pictura worked with eq-life to reset its technology department

with graphics that incorporated much more than just a techie product.

To prevent eq-life’s salon customers from feeling like they were on display to people walking

by outside, Pictura recommended covering the entire windows with a perforated window

graphics. The material does triple duty – providing privacy, allowing people inside the store

to see out, and displaying eq-life-branded graphics to people passing by the building.

RESULTS By providing integrated sourcing, conceptualization, layout and design

GEEK SQUADCHALLENGE As it expands from its “precincts” in Best Buy locations around the

country to stand-alone neighborhood stores in markets like Minneapolis, Santa Monica and

Midtown Manhattan, Geek Squad has earned a national reputation for diagnosing and

fixing clients’ often-complicated computer issues. And in Pictura, Geek Squad found a

strategic printing partner equally focused on attention to detail and technical processes.

SOLUTION Early in the company’s brand positioning process, the 24-hour computer

support task force put several printers to the test by asking them to match its tricky corpo-

rate color, PMS 1955, Geek Squad Orange. Pictura nailed it, the only digital printer to be

able to hit the color. “We went through a battery of tests,” says Paul Lilienthal, Pictura’s

president. “Our color management team is unsurpassed when it comes to matching color.

We’ll do as many tests as it takes to get a color right. That’s one of our areas of expertise

that clients value, especially if they’re used to dealing with lithographic printers.”

RESULTS With its colorful logo, black and white uniforms, and police-like cars and

badges, the Geek Squad corporate identity is as memorable as it is unique. To further

bolster its bigger-than-life brand, Geek Squad also turned to Pictura to create huge

in-store cutouts of its “agents” on dibond, a metal composite. With a combination of

considerable experience printing on unique materials and the right router equipment for

this unusual job, Pictura was able to provide these one-of-a-kind graphics to help bolster

the client’s already dynamic brand.

LUND’S / BYERLY’SCHALLENGE Lund’s was completing a brand “refresh” for its

full service grocery stores. The design team insisted on creating a

unique look and feel to the graphic elements that were consistent

with the “organic / green” philosophy. The varying material

options (wood, dibond, textiles, fabrics, etc.) provided a unique

challenge from sourcing, application testing, color matching and

final production.

SOLUTION Lunds selected Pictura Graphics for the rebranding

project for its ability to provide the breadth of graphic applications

they were seeking. The scope of work included graphic fabrication

and installation for all departments within the store including

common areas. The environmental elements in some departments

(freezer, frozen foods) provided some unique challenges in terms of

graphic performance on the “green” materials selected.

RESULTS The client and its customers were very pleased with the

new look and feel of the in-store graphics program. The rebranding was

a success and the store environment that has been upgraded is better

positioned to the types of products and services being offered.

AVEDACHALLENGE Aveda maintains a strong environmental “mission” for its printed materials that focus on non-PVC and non-vinyl based solutions. As a pre-requisite, Aveda personnel inquire if the appropriate solution exists, and Pictura is challenged with “making it happen” in accordance with Aveda’s environmental requirements.

SOLUTION Aveda consistently turns to Pictura Graphics to meet the “environmental” demands of its in-store and marketing promotions. Whether it is floor graphics, bus shelters, in-store solutions, etc., Pictura continues to keep pace with Aveda‘s demands.

RESULTS To date there has not been a challenge that Pictura Graphics has not been able to meet. Aveda has recognized Pictura’s ability to source the graphic elements with material solutions that meet Aveda’s mission.

SPECIALIZED BICYCLESCHALLENGE Specialized Bicycles has a passion for innovation,

technology and the environment. To support an advertising and

marketing campaign touting their new line of Globe bicycles as the

“vehicle for change” Specialized sought environmentally friendly point-

of-sale materials.

SOLUTIONS Specialized turned to Pictura Graphics, the nation’s

first fully-certified Sustainable Green Printer and their ecoImagesTM line

of material solutions. Large retail banners were printed on 100% cotton

textiles with wood dowels sewn into the pockets for hanging. Pictura’s

full-service fulfillment capabilities insured that retail signage kits were

sent to hundreds of store locations across the country, packaged in

recyclable materials.

RESULTS Retail customers were delighted with the banners, particularly

the color saturation and quality of the materials. Specialized plans to review

the majority of it’s in-store and POP programs to incorporate more environ-

mentally conscious solutions.
