The Tradition Continues!

A few years ago, Mrs. Ann Bozick and Ms. Amy Ervin’s CBI classes began helping the Adena Women’s Board prepare for their biggest fundraiser of the year – the flower sale. On May 5, 2015, Ms. Ervin's CBI class (along with former class members Nick True and Derrick Benson) assisted the Adena Women's Board prepare for this year’s sale. McDowell students learn how engineering can be fun!

Thirty eighth grade students from McDowell Exchange School in Logan Elm School District attended the Engineering Day at King’s Island. Students rode a variety of attractions and completed assignments that demonstrated how amusement park rides are engineered. Concepts involving hydraulics, pneumatics, construction material, forces, gravitation speed and linear speed were investigated. The field trip provided a first-hand experience in a variety

of engineering concepts and showed the students how engineering can be fun. The trip was paid for by a grant through the Logan Elm Education Foundation and support through Pickaway Ross Career and Technology Center.

“Mock” Interviews for Chillicothe’s Life Management Class

Chillicothe High School students in Mrs. Groff's Life Management class have recently completed "mock" job interviews. Mrs. Groff invited community members to act as the interviewers so the students can use skills learned in class as well as learn from the experience to better themselves for the 'real deal'. Each student applied for a job of choice by completing a job application, preparing a resume and cover letter. The interviewers were supplied a list of "Top 10 Interview" questions to make the process as realistic as possible. The students were very nervous, but definitely benefited from the opportunity. Many thanks to the various community members that helped make this experience for these students a success: Mark Moss and Susan Schwalbauch, PRCTC; Cheryl Barlage, Kenworth; Lisa Barlage, The Ohio State University; Martin Dunn and Sue Gray, Chillicothe High School; and Staff Sergeant Andrew McMeley, United State Army.
