• Meetings– EPS (7/07) and TTF (4/07) contributed abstracts being developed (due 2/13)– Gorelenkov is giving Invited talk at EPS on NSTX/JET Acoustic Alfvén modes

• Publications – since last LMR– 2 PRLs in review (and re-review)

• Kaye – Transport• Fredrickson – Cascade modes

– IAEA papers submitted to Nuclear Fusion special issue• One will miss deadline for special issue

– APS Invited papers under (re-)review as well

• NSTX Colloquia being given– Wong – UC Irvine (1/26)– Sabbagh – U Wisc. (2/5/07)– Gates – Columbia (early Feb), MIT (early March)– Menard – NYU (Feb)– Kaye – LLNL, UCLA (2/21-22/07), Lausanne, Garching (5/10-11/07)– M. Bell – U. Texas (3/07)– R. Maingi – Georgia Tech (4/07)– R. Raman – U. Rochester, U. Maryland (TBD)– GA, UCSD (TBD – most likely right before or after TTF in S.D.)

• First round TRANSP analyses complete for 2006 data (Kaye)– Round 2 to begin

• Gyrokinetic analyses being performed on H-mode and RS L-mode plasmas– GYRO non-linear runs give ETG-driven transport

levels comparable to those estimated in TRANSP in L-mode plasmas outside region of RS (Mikkelsen)

• ETG stable in RS region• Linear GS2 indicates microtearing important; supported

by analytic calculations (Wong)• Non-linear electromagnetic GS2 runs to study

microtearing are running (Kaye, Mikkelsen)

• GTC can now determine kr spectrum of unstable modes for direct comparison to high-k scattering (Wang)– Capability tested on pure ITG modes in RS L-mode plasma

(would be stabilized with inclusion of ExB shear)• GEM code still in process of being benchmarked

(Rewoldt)– Could be used to study microtearing when ready

• Coupling of NMA to DCON to simulate finite resistivity shell, f/b coils and sensors for RWM studies underway (Chance/Sabbagh)

• Plans for using HYM to model chirping of GAE/CAE modes on NSTX (Belova)

• Error field studies using M3D planned (Breslau/Menard)

• BOUT studies of NSTX density scans and blobs (Umansky/Soukhanovskii/Maingi/Zweben) planned– Code still being checked out– Will first attempt density scan simulation
