THE FMS INTERFACE CONTAINS THE FOLLOWING

The gateway is standardly equipped with a contactless CANbus reader – CANGOclick and 1 meter power cables 8−36Vdc, 2 x CANbus, J1708/J1587, K−line and L−line.

The FMS interface has part no. 8164−10.

OPTIONS

Optionally, CANGOclick for J1708/J1587 can be connected to part no. 8164−JC

POWER SUPPLY

The FMS Interface works with a power voltage ranging between 8 and 36 volts (DC). The BLACK wire is the neutral wire, while the RED wire is connected to the DC power source.

INTRODUCTION

Thank you for choosing CANGO FMS interface. Our gateway is used in telematics applications both on heavy duty and on most commercial vehicles by most telematic providers.

FMS interface offers more than data streaming from the Vehicle Data Network, as our gateway processes the vehicle data

based on advanced algorithms, which results in more accurate data than those provided by the ECUs of the vehicle manufacturer.

CANGO provides highly accurate data in order to improve the Fleet Management and Driver Management solutions (based on a tachograph connection).

6.4 Connecting the FMS interface to digital tachographs

The FMS interface is connected to digitaltachographs through the purple K−Line wire.

6.4.1 Compatible digital tachographs

The FMS interface is compatible with most digital tachographs, namely

Continental/Siemens VDOAll DTCO1381 models are compatible with our gateway, as well as all MTCO models starting with serial number 1324−xx4xxXXX0x04. It is possible that the D8 – K−line port of the tachograph may not be active. In order to activate it, use the Service Diagnostic tester.

Stoneridge SE5000It is possible that the D8 – K−line port of the tachograph may not be active. In order to activate it, use the MK2 Stoneridge tester. In order to activate the Serial Data Stream, this instructions should be followed:1. Pull out the paper roll from the tachograph. 2. Connect the MK2 tester to the front tachograph connector.3. Insert the workshop cardSearch the menu for the SRE option and turn it on. Then select "send” and the information will be sent to the tachograph.

Actia Smartach L2000All Actia Smartach L2000 tachographs are supported.

WARNING!It is possible that the D8 tachograph port may be inactive. It can be normally activated in any workshop using the specific diagnostic tools.

6.4.2 Tachograph Connection

To connect the FMS Interface to the tachograph, you have to connect the purple cable (K−Line) of the interface to the D8 tachograph port (D connector, pin 8). The D8 port is located behind the tachograph, as indicated in the photo below.

Continental/ Siemens VDO

Stoneridge D8

WARNING!Do not disconnect tacho power (device connector A) when performing the installation. The tachograph must be powered at all times.

6.4.3 Possible problems with the Siemmens VDO tachographs

Due to the specific hardware configurations of the VDO Continental/Siemens tachographs, it is necessary to update the FMS interface with a specific configuration. In order to do so, please contact [email protected]

How can you detect the problem? This can be detected by measuring the voltage on the D8 tachograph port, as follows:

−The D8 voltage is almost 2 Vdc. Ask for the specific .UPD file−The D8 voltage is between 7−9 Vdc. Ask for the specific .UPD file. − In any other case, contact [email protected]

6.4.4 The pull−up resistor

The FMS interface standardly includes a pull−up resistor for the K−Line (purple cable) controlled by the blue loop cable, as presented in the picture below.

WARNING! A pull−up resistor may or may be not necessary for connection to a tachograph, according to the tachograph manufacturer, as indicated below:

– Continental/Siemens VDO − not necessary/CUT THE CABLE– Stoneridge − not necessary/CUT THE CABLE– Actia − necessary/DO NOT CUT THE CABLE

INPUTS

CAN 1 or CANGO Click J1708/J1587 or CANGO Click (J1708/J1587 ) K−Line & L−Line

6.1 CAN

1. Connect the CAN1−High and CAN1−Low wires or the CANGOclick to the CAN vehicle network

WARNING!When using the CANGOclick, the cables have to bestraight and form one knot inside the device.

2. Check and confirm the baud rate of the CAN input, espectally when using different configuration than default .upd file. The most common are 250K and 500K.

WARNING!CANGOclick must not be used when connecting thedevice to a one−node CAN network – CANbus STUB. CANGOclick cannot be used as a node for the vehicle network.

6.2 J1708/J1587

1. Connect wires J1708− and J1708+ or the CANGOclick (J1708/J1587 version) to the J1708/J1587 vehicle network.

WARNING!In case the CANGOclick (J1708/J1587 version) is not used, please disconnect it from the FMS Interface.

6.3 K−line & L−line for Renault/Dacia

1. Connect the K−line cable to pin 7 of the OBD−II connector.2. The pull−up resistor is required, the (blue) cablewill not be cut.3. Connect the L−line cable to pin 15 of the OBD−II connector.

UPDATING THE FIRMWARE

1. Go to the “Update” tab.

2. Press the “Load Update File” button to select the updating tab.

3. Press the “Update” button and wait for the updating to be completed.

4. After updating, the device will return to the pre−defined settings and configuration. In case before updating, the RS232 settings were different from the pre−defined settings, the user will have to change the software settings in order to be able to communicate again to the FMS Interface.

7.1 CAN (FMS standard)

1. Connect the CAN2−High and CAN2−Low cables to the GPRS modem.

2. In case an end of line resistance is not required for the CAN2 bus, the green cable of the resistor will be cut, otherwise it will remain uninterrupted.

WARNING!The CAN output (FMS standard) complies with the FMS standard.

7.2 RS232

The FMS Interface is standardly equipped with a RS 232 serial communication wires. It is important to differentiate the DTE and DCE devices because the cable pinout is different and it can normally influence the operation of the device connected to the FMS Interface, be it a PC or a GPS/GPRS gateway. Normally, DTE devices use DB9 male connector and DCE devices use DB9 female connector.

WARNING!It is recommendable that the serial cable should be asshort as possible to avoid data losses.

7.2.1 To connect the FMS Interface to another device with RS 232 port

When connecting the FMS Interface to another device with RS232 port, cross−connect the RxD−TxD and RTS−CTS lines.

Both devices need to have the same communication, baudrate, data bit, parity, stop bit and handshake characteristics.

WARNING!The pre−defined setting FMS Interface uses a 115200 baudrate, 8 data bits with no parity, one stop bit and an inactive handshake.
