File, new, international paper, A4

-file, new

-window opens, then type in name of layer which will be background

-choose International paper and select A4

-ok to confirm and open the page. This will look like the print screen above

Paint bucket tool – can make a whole background one colour.

Following the little paint bucket icon at the top of

the options bar is a little black arrow.

The gradient tool

Fill a selection by clicking and dragging the pointer across the canvas or selection. The larger the drag

the more gradual the gradient will be. All of the control of the tool lies in the dragging of the pointer.

Pressing and holding the shift key will create perfectly aligned gradients.

Custom shape tool

To load other shape presets, press

the triangle in the right upper

corner of the Custom Shape window

(see below). You will see a drop-

down list where you can choose the

presets you like. We did so to choose

the "Ornaments" presets.

Select all and choose from the next section—still using the custom shape tool

Then drag the line across until you are ready to finish the design.
