The “glow in thedark” effect ofphotoluminescence ismade possible withcrystals that absorband store energy fromambient light, and thenautomatically glow whenthe lights dim or go out. Itis important to note thatthese crystals must be“charged” throughillumination by ambientlight in order to storeenough light energy toglow.
