It’s one thing to visit a place, but it’s another to immerse yourself in it. Not just to see the sights, but also to meet the people, understand the history, drink in the culture, and get to know the wildlife.

Frederique Olivier Award Winning Professional Photographer / Videographer

An accomplished field guide, photographer and documentary filmmaker, Frederique Olivier spent 15 seasons in Antarctica and the Sub-Antarctic — serving as a scientist, voyage manager, skipper, guide and videographer. She endured two challenging expeditions while filming the Emperor penguin for two award-winning BBC television series. Fred will be sharing her passion for nature and photography, as well as tips on video and photographic work with Silversea guests of any skill level.

Ray Stranagan Silversea Expeditions Resident Photographer / Videographer

Ray Stranagan was born on an American Army base in Germany, but soon moved to New York State where he grew up making funny short movies and extreme sports videos with his brother. While a student at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale for Video Production and Digital Filmmaking, he worked for Pro Dive International filming underwater video/photography. After graduating from the Art Institute in 2011, Ray continues to pursue work photographing natural ecosystems, and spends his free time travelling and scuba diving around the world.

Richard Sidey Award Wining Professional Photographer/Videographer

Richard Sidey is a professional digital media designer and photographer from New Zealand. Growing up around the mountains, Richard became a keen outdoor enthusiast and developed a love for nature photography. He graduated with a Bachelor of Visual Communication Design at Massey University in Wellington, where he concentrated on experimental time-based media and produced an award-winning short film. He has been working as the onboard photographer for expedition ships since 2003, and continues to explore his affinity with the polar regions.

Each Silversea Expeditions voyage is led by a team of 11 experts*: marine biologists, naturalists, anthropologists, geologists and historians, hand-picked for their knowledge, passion, warmth and friendliness. Here is a sample of the Expedition Team you’ll meet onboard Silver Discoverer and Silver Explorer. Your Expedition Leader and Captain will work together to ensure opportunities for adventure and exploration are the best possible, taking into account prevailing weather activity.
