This picture represents the part of my dorm life that isn’t the most exciting, but very important. Whenever I have a problem with my room, or just need to pick up a pack-age, this is where I come to. They have workers who work around the clock to help me with any problem that may arise. Other reasons I might come here are to rent movies, video games, or ping pong paddles. This is basically the spot where I come to when I have a problem with anything. Though it may not seem like a big deal, this is a major part of being in the dorms, and really comes in handy.

Front Desk

Recreational Center

This part of my dorm is the recreational center. It is located in the basement and is a cool place to come and play some ping-pong. Every now and then it is nice to have a place to go to do some physical activity, especially if you don’t want to walk to the co-rec. This area is located in the basement and is accessable 24/7. It also can be a great place to come with your friends and hang out. The more open area allows more movability then a cramped dorm room. This is a bonus part of my dorm experience because only a select few dorms have this type of area. Lounge

This part of my dorm building is located in the basement. I come here quite often to watch TV and just hang out. It is a cool getaway from your small room and living with a roomate. This lounge area can also be the site of many events held by the dorm. On occasion, the dorm offices will hold social events in rooms like these. Another cool part of living in the dorms is the social aspect it can bring. Video game tournaments can be held on the TV and board games can also be played in this room. This sanc-utary is just one of the neat things that living in the dorms offers.

Showers

Taking showers in the dorms can be quite the task to get used to. After 18 years of having your own personal shower, its easy to see that these stalls come as a shock. The rst major change is the fact that multiple people could be showering at the same time and personal privacy becomes a issue. Also, having to bring a pale of soap and shampoo everytime can be quite challenging. All in all, the proccess of taking a shower becomes fairly routine and hassle free, but still a neat part of the dorm life experience.

Laundry Mat

In the dorms, it is very rare to see any mom’s to be doing laundry. The laundry mat in my dorm is a place where I dread coming to. Having to haul my clothes down 2 stories to the basement is not exactly a good time. Instead of relaxtion and video games like in high school, I have to take 2 hours out of my time each week to do laundry. On occasion, there is not enough washers or dryers, which extends the time even more. Bedroom

This is a big part of my life in the dorms, as this is where I sleep. Sleeping 6 feet in the air was a big adjustment when I rst came to college, but even-tually it has become comfertable. Saftey precautions can include stretch-ing in the morning and also rolling druing your sleep, both of which I un-fortently learned from experience. Making the bed can also be hard, but eventually I learned that sometimes a mess may not be the worst thing in the world. Overall, this is a unique experience with dorm life.

Boiler Junction

This is a picture of a sign for the Boiler Junction. This is a gro-cery store that is located inside my dorm. It is unique to my dorm specically and has played a major part of my life here. In the mornings I come here to get food before class. It is open from 9 A.M. to 11 P.M. Any time I miss a meal, I can come here and get food. It is located only about a minute away from my room so it is very easy to access. This has made grabbing a quick snack before a test or dinner very made grabbing a quick snack before a test or dinner very easy. Without the Boiler Junction, life in the dorm’s would be a lot more difficult.

Computer Lab

This is a place where most of my online projects get done. The dorm I live in has a computer lab inside of it which can be very useful. I personally have a mac como-puter which cannot run some programs, but these computers have most windows programs pre-installed. It is a luxery to have access to a fast computer no more than a 30 second walk away. The computer’s here also give me the ability to keep my laptop free of academic work, saving space. The computer lab also features a printer which is free. This saves lots of space in my room with the abscense of a printer and is a convience that I dont have to pay for paper.
