September 2016
Chairman’s ReportFirstly, on behalf of the North Narrabeen SLSC JuniorCommittee I would like to extend a warm welcometo all our new Nippers, and returning families to the2016-17 season. The current remodelling (dredging)of the lake should result in a fantastic flat waterplayground on which to stage our weekly NipperSundays along with the Ocean beach, surf and pool.
So far the weather has been a lot kinder to us thanlast year’s spring months and (fingers crossed) if thiscontinues we’ll be in for a bumper summer!
I would like to take this opportunity to highlight and thank our Junior Committee Members who have beenworking tirelessly since June this year in preparation for the new season. For most of us it’s our first time onthe committee and we didn’t realise how much behind the scenes work was involved.
A big thanks to:o Co-Chairperson John Perryo Secretary Sarah Ryano Treasurer Toni Caddeno Registrar Richard Jessupo Assistant Registrar Federico Zanellao Competition Secretary Mark Byrneo Marketing / Website Murray Love
We are trialling a few new initiatives this season such as our use of Team App forcommunicating with members and highlighting upcoming events. We also plan tohave two Kids Disco’s this season and our always popular visit from Santa will bebigger than ever. There is weekly board and swim training available for waterproficient nippers (under 9’s and over) and a few other activities that we’ll highlightin coming newsletters and Team App. The Nippers committee welcomes yourfeedback and input on these initiatives, so don’t be shy if you have ideas that mightimprove your club. However, please keep in mind that we are volunteers and ifyour idea truly is amazing you may be asked to “step up” and help make it happen.
Co-Chair Dave, Former Chair Darren & Co-Chair John
Current registrations would indicate that our club will have a lot more nippers this year than last, to helpmanage this we have a larger number of Age Managers than usual. Age Managers are regular Mums andDads who have volunteered their time to help your kids at Nippers, they are not child minders, andNippers is NOT a “drop and go” child minding service. Please stay with your child’s nipper group when onthe beach, your kid will be stoked that you’re watching them and who knows you might have some funyourself.
Each Sunday (weather permitting) after nippers there is a Club Swim at 11am – this handy-capped race isopen to all members and associates and it’s a great way for our kids to cheer on Mum and Dad as theycompete against other Mums and Dads. Even I’ll be going in it!!!
Finally, our major fundraising activity each season is the BBQ which is held back at the club house at theconclusion of nippers. The roster is spread across the season to allocate one Sunday per Age Group, soplease support your respective Age Manager when it is your turn. On behalf of the Nipper Committee, I wishyou all a fun-filled season and I look forward to seeing as many of you on the beach each Sunday.
Cheers,
Dave JohnsonCo Chairperson NN Nippers

Your child will need a green cap for U6’s and a white cap for U7’s and up, these are compulsory. Please have their name clearly written on their cap so it can be easily read by the Age Manager.

also must go to Brian Robinson and Kate & Darren
Marshal for watching over the new committee. And
thanks to our junior members and mums and dads for
stepping in to help out. Your help is invaluable.”
Our Club AimOur aim at North Narrabeen is to educate our children to be competent and safe on the beach and using surf equipment. Surf knowledge and techniques are gradually
introduced to the children in relation to their age and ability.
Need To Get Gear? The first 2 weeks of Nippers the uniform shop willbe open from 8.30am in the clubhouse. Get inearly to avoid disappointment. U8’s and uprequire a pink high-vis vest.
What Are The Green Fluoro Caps?Under 6’s in 2016-17 will wear green fluoro caps. This is an important new safety initiative toclearly identify our most junior members. Thishelps everyone on the beach to immediatelyidentify them as juniors who need extraassistance, care and caution if near the surf.
