AIRCAST 3700Data SheetRTV high temperature casting compound

DESCRIPTIONAircast 3700 is a two component modied RTV compound designed for use as a exible mold making materialand mandrels. Aircast 3700 is ideal for casting pressure pads. The high dierential in thermal coecient ofexpansion between Aircast 3700 and a sealed metal tooling box makes it useful in trapped rubber molding.

APPLICATIONMixing Instructions:Mix 100 parts base (Part A) with 12 parts curing agent (Part B) by weight. Place the material in a vacuum chamber toremove trapped air. As vacuum is drawn, the material will expand as much as four times its original volume. After 1 - 2minutes, the material will recede to its original volume. Remove from vacuum chamber and stir material to assist pouring.Curing chart:

Mold release:Certain materials will cause inhibition or neutralization of the curing agent. Inhibition may easily be determined bybrushing a small quantity of Aircast 3700 over a localized area of the surface to be reproduced. If the Aircast 3700 isgummy or uncured after the curing time has elapsed, then you know the mold surface is acting as an inhibitor. Siliconerelease agents will cause inhibition and must not be used. Following release agents can be used and do not containsilicones of any kind: Release All‚ Safelease 30, Release All‚ Safelease 20L, Release All‚ 19.Service Life Extension:Aircast 3700 can be covered with Teease MG2 pressure sensitive tape to extend the service life and aid in releaseproperties.

AIRPADData SheetUncured non-silicone tooling rubber

DESCRIPTIONAirpad is an uncured non-silicone rubber that can be made into pressure caul sheets and exible mandrels. TheAirpad pressure intensier provides uniform pressure distribution during autoclave processing. This createstoolside part quality on the vacuum bag side of the part. Airpad will take high temperature similar to siliconerubbers but will not cause silicone contamination. Airpad is dimensionally stable when reinforced with

to stay dimensionally stable. Never reinforce the male radius if stretch is needed.

SIZESThickness Width Length Packaging type

APPLICATIONCuring instructions:Uncured Airpad should be cured at 350 ‚F (176 ‚C) for 2 hours in an autoclave with an applied pressure of 100psi (7 bars), minimum recommended pressure is 45 psi (3 bar). Over 100 cycles can be made after rst curedepending on use.

Basic guidelines:> A high temperature sample part is required to oset part thickness during fabrication of the Airpad. Forhoneycomb parts, a high temperature dummy part must also be used as a mould for the Airpad tooling.> Airpad must be covered with a release material. The best release is our 50 ƒm A4000 bondable one sideapplied to the Airpad in the B stage. Knife cuts in the bondable A4000 one side can be repaired using ourTeease MG2. Tooltec CS5 can also be applied to cured Airpad. The pressure sensitive bond is not as good asthe treated A4000 bond.> Request an Airpad specication manual with your order for complete detailed instructions.

AIRPAD HTXData SheetA non-silicone tooling rubber for caul sheets and flexible tooling

DESCRIPTIONAirpad HTX is an uncured non-silicone rubber that can be made into caul sheets and exible mandrels. AirpadHTX has been formulated to provide enhanced performance in comparison to other rubber caul sheetmaterials.

Benets:> Bonds aggressively to bondable release lm, resulting in a longer lasting tooling.> Airpad HTX bonds to itself aggressively, making it easier to repair.> Heat aging studies show longer life in high temperature applications.> High Shore hardness for better denition.> Resistance to solvents, allowing the tool to be more durable.> AIRPAD HTX can be released using standard release agents. This should be tested by the customer using theirrelease agents and prepreg before using Airpad HTX in any particular application.

APPLICATIONCuring Instructions:

results will be obtained at 100 psi (7 bars).

Basic guidelines:> The Airpad HTX caul must be made on the correct mold line. In lieu of dedicated tooling to make the Airpad caul, hightemperature sample part is required to oset part thickness during fabrication of the caul.€ The high temperature dummypart must be nished to engineering tolerances before fabrication of the Airpad, every defect will be faithfully reproduced. For honeycomb parts, a high temperature dummy part must also be used as a mold for the Airpad tooling.> Airpad HTX has a natural low tack Light application of heat with a heat gun will cause the material to ‚tack upƒ and allowit to stick to vertical surfaces and to itself.> Airpad HTX will have improved service life if covered with a release material. The best practice is to bond on a layer of 2mil (50„ m) A4000 BOS applied to the mold and bagside of the Airpad HTX in the B stage.€> If required, it is recommended release agents be tested prior to use on Airpad HTX and in combination with theproduction resin/prepreg.> Request an Airpad HTX guide for complete detailed instructions.

APPLICATIONCure procedure for a typical seam:

> Lay rubber in place, taking care not to trap air, and remove clear liner.> Rub edges smooth with a spatula or plastic liner and ngers.

> Apply a vacuum bag and debulk 20 minutes at 25 in. Hg (0.85 bar) minimum.> Cure in an oven at 350 ‚F (177 ‚C) for 30 minutes + heat up time required to bring supporting member to temperaturemaintaining minimum 25 in. Hg (0.85 bar) vacuum.> Allow to cool to 120 ‚F (49 ‚C) before removal from mold.> For lower temperature cures, simply increase the cure time 30 minutes per 50 ‚F (10 ‚C) drop in temperature (from 350 ‚For 177 ‚C).> Recommended minimum cure temperature is 250 ‚F (121 ‚C).Post cure instructions:> Place fully cured material in cool oven with material exposed to air (no vacuum bag).> Ramp temperature to 400 ‚F (204 ‚C) in approximately half an hour.> Post cure at 400 ‚F (204 ‚C) for 4 hours.> Allow to cool to 120 ‚F (49 ‚C) before handling.
