Dear Families,
Thank you to everybody who has completed the survey about our school newsletter. We had 49 responses, the
feedback and suggestions has been fantastic and appreciated. As we are currently reviewing our newsletter, its
content and modes of delivery, we look forward to sharing with you our new and improved version early next
term.
We have a very exciting week ahead! Stage 2 is off to Zoo Snooze. I’m sure it will be a wonderful and
memorable experience. A huge thank you to Mrs Lowe for her organisation of the excursion and staff attending
to ensure students have a positive experience.
Stage 1 is off to Katoomba for their excursion where they will spend time at the cultural centre and take part in
a national park walk led by a ranger. Thank you to Mrs Jenkins who has organised this day out for our students.
Stage 1 is super excited!
Everyone gets to wear their pyjamas’ to school this Thursday. SRC are kindly raising money for the RSPCA. As
Year 2 will be on their excursion, they will be participating in pyjama day the following Thursday.
Mrs Clift will be commencing pre-school reading time in our library from the start of Term 4, each Friday
morning at 9:00am. This is a wonderful opportunity for our pre-schoolers to come in and familiarise themselves
with our library, librarian and listen to a story.
Please remember it is not ok to approach any child other than your own in a disciplinary manner. If you have any
concerns please raise these with the appropriate teacher and not the child.
We are currently taking enrolments for Kindergarten 2020. Please contact the office for an enrolment pack or if
you would like to arrange a school tour.
Have a fabulous week!
Warm regards,
Melinda Williams

Pre-SchoolStorytime The storytime hour provides an opportunity for our new kindergarten students and parents for 2020 to
come together as a community to meet and greet one another before the start of the new school year.
During the hour, the pre-schoolers will listen to stories and immerse in drama activities around a weekly
theme to develop a love of books and become familiar with the library environment.
It also provides the opportunity for you to visit our fabulous school library and meet Mrs Clift, the
Teacher-Librarian.

Debating Gala day
Last Friday on the 13th of September, Eden P, Eliza S, Lyla D and Campbell P represented Hazelbrook
Public School at the Mid-Mountains Debating Gala Day held at Springwood public School. We were
given a few weeks to plan, as a team, 3 topics to be debated across the day. The topics we chose
were:
Schools should only use intrinsic rewards for the students. We debated for the negative
Water restrictions should be in place at all times. We debated for the affirmative
There should be no competitive sports in schools. We debated the affirmative.
The standard of debating was excellent from all schools and we finished third overall. It was a great
day and we thank Mr McDonald for his hard work with the school debating team.
