Many visitors to Fountain Hills come with celebration in mind. They arrive for its famous Thanksgiving Day parade, for a stop into Chocofi n to select world-class chocolates for a lucky Valentine, or to exchange wedding vows where the views alone say “forever.”

CELEBRATE: VARIETYNurturing your interest in art, the latest offerings from innovative chefs, or “I-can’t-believe-I-found-this” shopping could be exactly what vacation means to you – and exactly what it doesn’t mean to the hiking enthusiast or golfer in your family. But instead of testing your ability to compromise, Fountain Hills lets you grab that No. 2 pencil and fi ll in the bubble next to “all of the above.”

Plan an easy, moderate or “I-can’t-wait-to-tell-my-buddies” hike on trails of the Fountain Hills McDowell Sonoran Preserve. Or access convenient trailheads to the McDowell Mountain Regional Park and Scottsdale Sonoran Preserve.

LOOKING UPAs the town’s famous fountain marks time, sending a graceful plume of water up to

360 feet high at the top of the hour from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., it invites you to look up. You’ll fi nd that looking up is a thread that runs throughout your Fountain Hills stay. Whether you catch the sunrise over Four Peaks or watch the light play over Red Mountain, looking up is inspiring in Fountain Hills.

FRIDAYA Fountain Hills TGIF celebration often begins at Grapeables, where the philosophy is to focus on wines that come from people, not mass production. Recently selected by PHOENIX magazine as one of the “50 Best Bars” in the valley, Grapables has more than 200 wines to choose from.

Mix relaxing simplicity with the opportunity to try the new and exciting. Fountain views are yours to enjoy no matter what you’re sipping.

Then stroll across the street to Fireside Grill for a Fountain Hills tradition, Jazz in the Hills, and sink comfortably into jazz by outstanding artists. You’ll see why jazz is best enjoyed live and what a difference the right venue makes.

SHORT DRIVESThis is where a morning spent with eye-opening views of the McDowell Mountains, Red Mountain, Four Peaks and the Superstitions at We-Ko-Pa can pair with afternoons at any of the other courses on the trail: Desert Canyon Golf Club, Eagle Mountain Golf Club, SunRidge Canyon Golf Club and Vista Verde Golf Club. The views go on forever, but traveling between courses takes only minutes.

The six spectacular courses on the Sonoran Desert Golf Trail are close not only to one another, but also to all that Fountain Hills offers – one more reason that a staycation won’t test your ability to compromise.

ARTArt that takes you everywhere – without budging an inch. From the time before Columbus right up to the present day, much of the art in Fountain Hills has found its natural home outdoors. Join a docent on the fi rst Saturday of the month, October to May, for insights and surprising facts about Fountain Hills public art, which includes 100 pieces by internationally recognized artists working in bronze, metal and stone.

Or pick up a map at the Visitor’s Center and create your own tour, perhaps while indulging in homemade gelato at La Scala Creamery.

Good things are yours when you get outside – especially during a visit to Fountain Hills, Arizona. If golf is your

game, make it an adventure by booking a tee time on one or more of the award-winning courses that make

up the Sonoran Desert Golf Trail. Should you be into hiking, mountain biking, or horseback riding, McDowell

Mountain Regional Park offers miles and miles of trails. Even art is an outside endeavor in Fountain Hills,

where you can enjoy public art all year long and take in the upcoming and always popular Fountain Festival of

Arts and Crafts November 11 to 13. Come on, come see us. And get outside.

We invite you to visit visitfhfm.com for more information.

Mom knew a thing or two when she told you to go outside and play.

“Those who have vanished,” is the translation of “Hohokam,” but the name is misleading, because the Hohokam people have not vanished completely. Explore McDowell Mountain Regional Park during one of your visits to Fountain Hills, and see petroglyphs created by the Hohokam – art that assures they have not vanished from memory.

If the petroglyphs intrigue you, so will what you learn at the L. Alan Cruikshank River of Time Museum.

Not many places let you introduce your children to so much outdoor art within minutes of cooling off at a Splash Park. George the Tortoise is a favorite.

SCRUMPTIOUSNESSIt’s entirely possible you worked up an appetite playing disc golf at Fountain Park, touring the art collection, visiting the museum, golfi ng or mountain biking. From comfort food to cutting-edge cuisine, there’s something on the menu for everyone. Fountain Hills is known for a wide array of

unique, independently owned and operated shops and restaurants. Signature drinks at Sofrita take advantage of abundant local prickly pears. Also on the menu: postres, tortas, tapas and sangria.

Chocolate lovers, your Fountain Hills stay just became too short. No matter how long you plan to stay, there isn’t enough time to sample the enticing array of delectables at Chocofi n Chocolatier, including Vietnamese cinnamon or Guajillo, ancho and chipotle chile dark chocolate.
