ASA Mission Statement:

• The Arlington Soccer Association provides quality soccer programs and experiences for people of all abilities, backgrounds and financial means to encourage personal growth, promote a love for the game, and advance soccer in Arlington and surrounding communities.

ASA Vision Statement:

• Arlington Soccer Association will be an inclusive soccer organization that draws people to soccer. We are dedicated to continually developing our programs, activities, and facilities so participants have the opportunity to learn, have fun, and reach their full potential.

US Soccer Landscape

US Soccer Development Academyis the highest Youth soccer league

in the US. It is run by the Federation

United States Soccer FederationThe official governing body for all Soccer in the United States

VYSA is a member of US Youth Soccer. It is devoted to promoting youth soccer in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the District of Columbia.

US Club Soccer is a member of the United States Soccer Federation that is committed to the development and support of soccer clubs in the United States.

USYS is an educational organization whose mission is to foster the physical, mental and emotional growth and development of America's youth through the sport of soccer at all levels of age and competition.

Development Academy Overview

• The U.S. Development Academy is a league created and managed directly by the United States Soccer Federation. Boys DA started in 2007 and Girls DA in 2017. The goal is to improve the everyday training/competition environment to develop world-class players.

• Development Academy is the highest competitive League in the US

• The Academy Program's philosophy is based on increased training, less total games, and more meaningful games using international rules of competition.

• The Academy values individual development of elite players over winning trophies and titles

• The Academy is the feeder system to the US Soccer Youth National Teams

• 69 Girls clubs in the United States have been accepted into the US Development Academy

• Arlington Soccer is in the top 0.01% of Clubs with US Soccer Development Academy membership

• Arlington Soccer is 1 of 25 Clubs in the country to have a Boys & Girls Development Academy

• We will have teams in 3 age groups to compete in the US Soccer Girls Development Academy during the 2018-19 season

• U13 (2006) 11v11 Play: Mid-Atlantic Division (Pilot Age Group for US Soccer-– Only 2 divisions in the country

• U14 (2005) 11v11 Play: Mid-Atlantic Division

• U15 (2004) 11v11 Play: Mid-Atlantic Division

• Minimum Coaching Licensing for Staff• Academy Director: USSF “A” License

• Academy Coach: USSF “B” License

• Our Goal is to become a full Development Academy in 2019-20 season

• Developmental players: Non DA player may train with Academy and play up to 6 games (e.g. U13, U14 or U15 CCL players). Developmental players may become full time players at any point in the year

• Weekly Soccer Schedule Framework;

• Training: 4 times per week• Games on Saturdays:

• 12-16 Fall season games and 12-16 Spring season games• Additional Showcases Events (2-3 Per year)

• Rest: 2 off days per week• Outside Competition: No participation in other soccer competitions/training (other

sports are allowed)• 10 month season increases the amount of meaningful training and game time for

country’s most committed players

Game Day Environment• Format 11v11

• U13: 2x35 min. halves• U14 / U15: 2x40 min. halves• Game Day Roster: 18 maximum

• Substitutions• U13 / U14 / U15: 7 Substitutions across 3 moments. No re-entry.* US Soccer Update on April 7th: U15 will have 7 subs on 2018 / 19 instead of 5.

• All Games will be recorded and uploaded to a portal to help support player development

• U.S. Soccer Player Safety Initiative-”Concussion substitution” rule is in effect

• Home team will provide Athletic Trainer for ALL HOME GAMES & will have to setup hydration tables, tents and benches for both team

• Start at least 25% of the games during the season

• Respect the game, opposition, spectators, refs & coaches

US Soccer Development Academy Staff is responsible for helping clubs improve the quality of player development. They are 100% dedicated to our Female athletes.

• The Academy's elite training environment promotes increased technical-tactical standards

• Greater accountability for players and coaches

• Coaches can devote more time to these areas in training

• Players will have substantially more hours on the training field focused on refining technique and tactical understanding

• Both players and coaches must learn to deal with and manage the challenges of playing in games using international rules

• The Academy program provides an improved environment with the proper training-to-game ratio that supports year round periodization for development
