  • Background:

    Majority of the people are extremely poor, with unemployment rates being the highest

    in this region, they also lack the necessary education & skills. This situation affects

    them socially, economically and spiritually. Their situation is such that they do not

    have sufficient funds to build a Masjid to perform their obligatory Salah.

    Ummah Welfare Trust trustees/volunteers, on his field visit able to identify that there

    was a need for a Masjid as the local people were offering their daily prayers in their

    homes. They were then able to consult the local community and determine their

    needs. Through these consultations with the local community, land for the Masjid was

    identified, thus the Masjid construction project came into existence.

    Projects Facts:

    The local people now have a Masjid to offer their daily prayers. Currently there are

    about 100 to 140 people can perform prayer at the same time. Insha Allah a Maktab

    will be set up in the Masjid soon in which local students will be getting Islamic

    education.

    Muslims of this village used to perform prayers in their houses. But now they perform

    5 times prayers in the Masjid. The people of this village are very happy. Also people

    from surrounding villages come to see the mosque and perform prayers in the Masjid

    Praying five times a day is an essential practice for all men and women and it is

    considered essential for men to offer their prayers at the Masjid. One typical benefit

    prayers get at the mosque is The prayer that is performed in congregation is

  • considered superior to the one performed alone at home. This is evident from the

    following Hadith: Prayer in congregation is superior to prayer alone by twenty-seven

    degrees.of Ajr [Bukhari & Muslim].
