New Opportunity for Catholic Education at St. Charles School in Hartland!
When your child was baptized, he/she was baptized into a community of faith. As our community of faith begins to work with St. Charles Parish (Message from the Pastor, March 29, 2009 bulletin), we invite you to consider St. Charles Catholic School, as your choice when deciding on the best educational option for your child. Offering K4 through 8th grade classes, St. Charles School provides your child an education you can have faith in. St. Charles remains true to the Catholic timeless tradition of value-based education while providing a loving and caring environment in which to learn. The educational philosophy is based upon care for the whole child – mind, body, and spirit. They offer your child a role model – Jesus – as a formational standard for how we live and interact with oth-ers. St. Charles School, welcomes children to a world of discovery, where learning, respect, faith and service inter-twine. They embrace what you value most in this world: your child. You’ll find high academic standards, a commit-ment to excellence, a welcoming school community, and teachers who care about your child’s educational, moral, and spiritual development. Please visit us at www.stcharleshartland.com. For more information, please contact Rick Olejnik at St. Charles School: 262-510-6810.
Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish has a tuition subsidy pro-gram. Our parish will provide up to $500 per school year to St. Charles School when parents who belong to our parish enroll their children. The parents must contribute to our parish an amount at least equal to what we will provide the school. For more information, please contact Chuck Mazza at the Parish office: 262-966-2191.

Dear Lord, on this day, we remember those who have served us by protecting our freedoms. When we celebrate our long week-end with our friends and family, help us remember, that our freedom to speak of you, and our freedom to worship you, and our freedom to do that which we ought to do, have all been bought at the price and sacrifice of many lives. Your Son died for our eternal life in heaven. So too, your children died protecting us here on earth. Help us be mindful this weekend and always of the sacrifices made by those in uniform for all our freedoms. Amen.

The Ascension of the Lord Today as we celebrate the feast of the Ascension of the Lord we are reminded that Christ’s saving work on earth continues through his disciples… and now through us.
When we give to the poor, God indeed pours his love, peace and joy into our hearts, into our lives and into the hearts of those who are poor.

BISHOPS URGE CATHOLICS TO CONTACT CON-GRESS AND NIH: OPPOSE DESTRUCTIVE STEM CELL RESEARCH WASHINGTON—The United States Conference of Catho-lic Bishops (USCCB) launched a new “Oppose Destructive Stem Cell Research” campaign today, equipping citizens to contact Congress and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to oppose embryonic stem cell research and support ethical cures and treatments “we can all live with.” The campaign is facilitated by the USCCB’s partner organiza-tion, the National Committee for a Human Life Amendment. The campaign homepage, www.usccb.org/stemcellcampaign, summarizes why the proposed guide-lines are unacceptable, provides links to USCCB resources (including the bishops’ statement “On Embryonic Stem Cell Research” and multi-media resources and ads), and en-courages web users to “Contact Congress & NIH Now” through an e-mail interface. Several resources are avail-able in both English and Spanish. The campaign site explains that the NIH guidelines “would—for the first time—use taxpayer funds to encour-age the killing of embryonic human beings for their stem cells.” It continues, “Embryonic stem cell research treats innocent human beings as mere sources of body parts, as commodities for our use.”
