As the pioneers of European river
cruising, APT continue to set
a benchmark that others can
only dream of following. Our two
newest ships, the ms Amabella
and ms Amaverde, are the most
innovative and modern on the
waterways and in 2011,
travellers will be spoilt for
onboard choice like never before.
So, in conjunction with our valued partners at Phil Hoffmann
Travel, it’s with great pleasure that I invite you to step aboard
and experience a true departure from the ordinary...
Geoff McGeary, APT Company Owner
Rivers are a country’s lifeblood,
so there’s no better way to
explore Europe than from the
comfort of a river ship. You’ll
dock right in the heart of cities
and towns so that you can
spend more time sightseeing and
exploring and less time getting
from one point to another.
I invite you to discover for yourself why everyone is talking
about Phil Hoffmann Travel’s European river cruise holidays,
run in conjunction with our quality partner, APT.

Disruption to Cruising and Itinerary Arrangements
Sometimes, for reasons beyond our control, it may be necessary to make alterations to your itinerary. For example, in the event of a water level problem on a river or canal it may be necessary to operate part of the itinerary by motorcoach. We recommend you take out a comprehensive travel insurance policy which covers you for medical expenses, loss of baggage, curtailment and other significant contingencies.

APT – European RiverCruising Experts
Above: Captain Jan de Bruijn; flying the APT flag; enjoy superb service throughout your entire cruise
APT’s New & Exclusive State-of-the-art ShipsEach of our state-of-the-art ships was designed with our valued
travellers in mind. Our operation allows us total control in
delivering the standards for which we are famous. And with eight
ships cruising in 2011, as well as the ms Amakatarina – Russia’s
most luxurious river ship – we are able to offer more cruising
routes, ships and departures than most other companies.
Partnering AMAWATERWAYS – the World Leaders APT recognise excellence, so we partner AMAWATERWAYS,
the world’s foremost Europe river cruise operator, led by Rudi
Schreiner. When the Main-Danube Canal opened in the early
90s, Rudi pioneered river cruising between Amsterdam and the
Black Sea. Today, he is credited with developing the modern
river cruise concept. By combining our resources and expertise,
we’re able to not only meet, but to exceed your expectations.
Fully Inclusive Pricing – For Your Peace of MindWith APT, you don’t have to worry about incidental costs.
From port charges to international airport transfers; gratuities to
onboard entertainment; gourmet meals to wine with lunch and
dinner; Small Group Shore Excursions to Signature Experiences,
Freedom of Choice Touring and more, we’re committed to the
concept of fully inclusive holidays.
For Your Safety, Convenience & Peace of MindIn offices throughout Europe, APT staff are on hand, waiting
to attend to any situation that might arise. These locally-based
employees are dedicated to ensuring your holiday runs smoothly.
On board, we have minimised the possibility of our ships being
ordered from the water in adverse conditions. They manoeuvre
easily around bends and into locks, and because the captain’s
command room is in the ideal position for control, at the front of
the vessel not the rear, our ships are among the safest of their kind.
Truly Outstanding Onboard ServiceWhen you cruise with APT, you’ll be served by true professionals.
From the captain to the crew; the restaurant staff to the reception
team; and the cruise director to the housekeepers – each member
of staff is with you on board from start to finish, working hard
to create the unforgettable holiday experience you expect.
APT’s Continued Commitment To YouWith a 98% satisfaction rating, and having launched all of our ships
on schedule, there’s no company more reliable or trustworthy than
APT. We promise we’ll continue to set the amazing standards for
which we are known, making your choice easy. Put simply, APT are
Australia and New Zealand’s true European river cruising experts.
As market leaders, our resources, experience, passion,
expertise and proven track record ensure that we’re the
most reliable cruise operator on Europe’s waterways.

An all-weather AMA Private Balcony Suite, offering fresh air and riverside viewsA spacious bathroom is a feature of every suite on board
Twin Window Suites (170 sq ft) – Cat. E & D
With 170 square feet of interior floor space, these are among the
largest entry-level suites on the water. Featuring twin windows, they
present the same size, amenities and sophistication of AMA Private
Balcony Suites, and therefore represent amazing value for travellers.
AMA Private Balcony Suites (170 sq ft) – Cat. C & B
AMA Private Balconies signify a truly innovative progression in river
ship design. They allow for maximum floor space inside your suite,
while still offering unimpeded riverside views from indoors and out,
meaning they can be used in all weather conditions at any time.
Twin Balcony Suites (210 & 235 sq ft) – Cat. T, T+, P & P+
A type of suite that’s only available on an APT river cruise, these
revolutionary suites come in two sizes and feature an AMA Private
Balcony, which creates a conservatory-style sitting area, as well
as a spacious Outside Balcony. Providing the best of both worlds,
their unique design allows for the maximum floor space possible.
Owner’s Suites+ (350 sq ft) – Cat. Owners+
Measuring 350 square feet, Owner’s Suites+ comprise the largest
set of suites on Europe’s waterways. Also featuring both an Outside
Balcony and an AMA Private Balcony, they are perfect for those
that wish to entertain family or friends in privacy. The extra floor
space is an obvious benefit, as is the ensuite bathroom with
a full-size bathtub and separate shower; the additional sitting
area and couch; and the fully-stocked mini-bar.
APT’s Gift on Arrival & Exclusive Butler Service^As well as a fruit and wine platter on arrival, a butler service for

Gourmet Cuisine
Onboard Entertainment
On our ships, you’ll discover why we’re famous
for fine food, great wine and casual yet attentive
service during each and every one of the many
unique onboard dining experiences that await.
Aboard an APT cruise, while the style of onboard
entertainment may vary from day to day, the
outstanding quality doesn’t – it’s the perfect
complement to each day’s discovery.
Fine Dining at Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Each day, a range of hot and cold options make up a lavish
champagne breakfast. Lunch is a similarly enticing affair, while
dinner consists of a delectable four-course à la carte meal.
Complimentary Soft Drink, Beer & Local Wine At lunch and dinner, soft drink and beer is included and fine
locally-sourced wine flows freely, allowing you to appraise
the flavours produced by various local vineyards.
Up to Seven Different Dining ExperiencesIn 2011, we offer up to seven unique dining experiences:
Gourmet Cuisine in the Verde Fine Dining Restaurant
Italian Fare in the Bella Cucina Restaurant
Intimate Dining in the Erlebnis Chef’s Table Restaurant
Private Dining in the Wine Room
Alfresco Lunch on the Sun Deck (conditions permitting)
Casual Dining at Lunch in the Main Lounge
Room Service Dining at Breakfast & Dinner (to select suites)
Inclusive Meal PlanAll meals on board are included. By land, meals are included as
indicated in the itineraries: B – Breakfast; L – Lunch; D – Dinner.
Magical Musical Evenings On BoardEach evening, the Main and Observation lounges combine to
become a Showroom, featuring performances that offer an insight
into the cultures of the region you’re in. In Germany, Bavarian
performers will introduce you to local songs, dance, music and
dress. As you cruise the Rhine, let the Duo Garfunkel enchant
you with the harp and other instruments from the middle ages. In
Budapest, Hungarian folklore is brought to life by gypsy violinists.
A Wide Variety of Light EntertainmentSee a glass-blower demonstrate his craft; become part of the
action during the humorous Bavarian Beer Experience; and enjoy
the ship’s crew presenting their own amusing show.
Intriguing & Insightful PresentationsDuring a lecture presented by the ship’s captain, you’ll learn how
the locks of the waterways function, while a Europe historian will
explain modern-day Europe from an entirely new angle.
The Soothing Sounds of Piano ThroughoutFor the entire cruise, a pianist is based in the Observation
Lounge, quietly playing soothing music and some old favourites.
Note: some performers may not be on all departures.

Russian River Cruising
Above: traditional Russian babushka dolls; incredible wooden architecture of Kizhi Island; the famous domes of St Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow
Russia – A Land of IntrigueThe fall of the Iron Curtain has opened up a new frontier.
Explore a land rich in contrasts – from the fast-paced urban
lifestyles of the affluent city-dwellers to traditional cultures still
alive in sleepy hamlets along the Volga River.
The Grand Cities of Moscow & St PetersburgExplore the architectural splendour of St Petersburg and discover
Moscow, once the forboding capital of Soviet Russia and today
one of the world’s most enthralling destinations.
The Quaint Cities of the Golden RingOutside the main cities, the village life, forested islands,
vast lakes and quaint lifestyles of the Golden Ring cities await.
Just northeast of Moscow, these ancient towns are among the
most picturesque in the country and once played a crucial role
in the formation of the Russian Orthodox Church. Today, they
preserve the memory of the most significant events in Russian
history. Often referred to as ‘open-air museums’, places such
as Yaroslavl and Uglich feature unique monuments of Russian
architecture from the 12th to 18th centuries, including kremlins,
monasteries, cathedrals, and churches.
Relaxed, Intuitive Service AwaitsThe high staff-to-guest ratio on the ms Amakatarina ensures great
service from the ship’s crew. A qualified doctor is present throughout
the cruise. By land, friendly English-speaking local guides will
provide you with a fascinating insight into their home town.
Extend Your Holiday with a Scandinavian DiscoveryAPT’s Russian Waterways departure on the 17 August combines
perfectly with our land tour of Scandinavia. Departing on August 2,

in 2010, it easily exceeds the expectations of the modern
traveller. Today, this luxury ship offers the highest level

that suit all tastes and budgets. Offering more personal space
than other river ships in Russia, all suites and staterooms feature
a spacious wardrobe, a satellite television, a safe, personal
climate control and a bathroom with a separate shower area –
unusual in Russian ships. Most feature Outside Balconies and,
thanks to the ship’s refurbishment in 2010, the furnishings and
appointments are comfortable, stylish and modern.
Enjoy a First-class Taste of RussiaBoth of the ship’s restaurants offer lovely riverside views. And
with all gourmet breakfasts, lunches and four-course dinners with
wine included, the onboard dining experience is truly indulgent.
A Wealth of Recreational ChoiceIn re-designing this magnificent vessel, one priority was to offer
you as much recreational choice as possible. Located on the
Boat Deck for superb riverside views, the world-class Panorama
Lounge & Bar is a tasteful and spacious area in which to unwind
with a drink. A modern Conference Hall plays host to a range
of entertaining concerts and performances, as well as some truly
intriguing lectures on the history and culture of the regions you’ll
visit. Up on the Sun Deck, a Solarium offers warmth as well as
great views, while an elevator to all levels makes every area of
the ship easily accessible. With a Gift Shop selling souvenirs and
other items and a Reception Desk manned 24 hours-a-day, your
cruising convenience and enjoyment really is assured.

Itineraries Itineraries are subject to alteration without notice and are intended as a guide only. Deviations to the planned cruise/touring itineraries and hotels are possible due to road, river or weather conditions, strikes or other reasons beyond our control, although every effort will be made to keep them as they are shown in the brochure and final documents. Should conditions render cruise/land touring routes unsafe for navigation, The Company reserves the right to provide alternative services, including but not limited to, accommodation on the docked ship and/or substitute ground arrangements. In the event of water level problems on stretches of any river, it may be necessary to operate part of the itinerary by motorcoach. We will make the effort to ensure that the places visited, excursions operated and the hotels or ships offered are as similar as possible to the ones originally planned but meals and accommodation may be at a different standard. Any resulting changes will not result in a refund for the original services. Any additional expense incurred by the passenger is not The Company’s responsibility.
Visa and PassportsAll passengers must have a valid passport with at least six months validity from the return date. Passengers must consult with the appropriate consulates to ensure any applicable visas for countries visited have been obtained prior to departure. Meeting necessary passport and visa entry requirements and cost is the sole responsibility of the passenger. The Company is not responsible for delays or missed portions of cruise/tour relating to incorrect travel documents or visas.
Shore ExcursionsThe timing of the shore excursions on all river ship departures may differ slightly for each departure. They are intended as a guide only and are subject to change without notice. It is not possible for large motorcoaches to be used for some city sightseeing. Many towns and cities will be visited by way of walking tours and accordingly, a reasonable level of fitness is required. For river cruising, clients must be able to climb ramps, for ship embarkation/ disembarkation depending on river levels these may have a number of steep steps.
