ERRORS ON ENTRY BLANKS: Owners are responsible for errors in making out entry forms, whoever may make such

errors, and no entry fees will be refunded in the event of such errors or cancellation of entries after the published closing date. Changes, additions or corrections to entry forms must be received in writing or by telegram prior to close of entries. Those received by telephone are not acceptable. There will be no refund of duplicate entries. Returned checks do not constitute a valid entry fee.

Entry fees shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent; disqualified; excused by the Veterinarian or Judge or

barred from competition by action of the Show Committee or cancellation of a win by the American Kennel Club. No entry fee will be refunded if the show cannot open or be completed by reason of riots, civil disturbances, fire, an Act of God, public emergency, strikes or any other cause beyond the control of the club. Obedience Trial only . . . a bitch in season on the day of the show will be refunded 50% of entry fee with a veterinarian’s certificate.

JUDGES ARE NOT REQUIRED TO WAIT FOR DOGS. THEY WILL ADHERE AS CLOSELY AS POSSIBLE TO THE

JUDGING SCHEDULE. The owner or handler of each dog is solely responsible for having it ready at ringside when its class is being judged. The show-giving club and the show secretary have no obligation or responsibility for providing service through a public address system or stewards or runners for the purpose of calling or locating dogs that are not brought into the ring when required.

employees, etc., assume no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury sustained by spectators, exhibitors, handlers, their employees or children, etc., or to any of their dogs or property.

AMERICAN KENNEL CLUB . . . POINTS

For complete Conformation Championship requirements see Chapter 16 of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows The Points toward a Championship shall be awarded to the Winners Dog and Bitch of each breed or variety based on the actual number of dogs or bitches competing in that breed or variety. If the dog designated Winners Dog of Winners Bitch is also awarded Best of Breed or Variety, the dogs of both sexes that have been entered for Best of Breed of Variety competi-tion and that have been defeated in such competition, shall be counted in addition to the dogs that completed in the regular classes for its sex in calculating championship points. If the dog designated Winners Dog or Winners Bitch is also awarded Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed or Variety, the dogs of its own sex that have been entered for Best of Breed or Variety competition that have been defeated in competition for Best of Opposite Sex, shall be counted in addition to the dogs that completed in the regular classes for its sex in calculating championship points. After points have been computed for Winners Dog and Winners Bitch subject to the above two stipulations, the dog awarded the Best of Winners shall be credited with the number of points calculated for Winners Dog or Winners Bitch, whichever is greater. In counting the number of eligible dogs in competition, a dog that is disqualified, or that is dismissed, excused or ordered from the ring by the judge, or from which all awards are withheld shall not be included. Any dog which shall have won fifteen points shall become a Champion of Record, if six or more of said points shall have been won at two shows with a rating of three or more championship points each and under two different judges, and some one or more of the balance of said points shall have been won under some other judge or judges than the two judges referred to above.

* The show site will be available on Thursday May 12th - Show ring/vendor space open at 4:30 PM; Grooming room open at 3:30 PM; Bathing 3:30 PM. All rooms locked 10:00 PM & re-open 6:00 AM. Dogs must be removed from the show site immediately following close of show. Loading & unloading in designated areas only.

* Bathing and Grooming are NOT allowed in hotel rooms – bathing rooms will be available. Grooming allowed only in designated Grooming rooms. Reservation form in this premium for reserved grooming spaces. As required by AKC, no cost “day of show only” grooming spaces will be available (please note additional info on reservation form).

* Hotel rules: six dog maximum per room. A $50.00 non-refundable one time pet fee .

* There is AMPLE PARKING available on show grounds. There is NO RV PARKING available at this site.

* Anyone whose dog is seen soiling any interior place, carpet, etc. will be charged $75.00 by the Hotel if it not cleaned immediately. It will be added to your bill. All officers and members of the club will be "on duty." Anyone caught letting their dog soil anywhere inappropriate will be reported to the hotel and they will be billed for cleanup.

We have had corgis since 1979, not long after I graduated from college. My first two were fully K-9 trained, as I was active in law enforcement and trained German Shepherds at the time. The corgis were great dogs, easy to train and similar to the GSD in temperament. We were hooked on the breed. In 1985, we started to show them in conformation, starting with our very special “Kingston”, who we acquired from Elaine Erganbright. One of those dogs who was so

much fun in the ring, he quickly finished his title and, as they say, the rest is history!

In the past 30-some years, much has transpired in our lives and in the corgi world. We have bred many champions and put other titles on many more. We have changed schools, careers and have moved to a new location 10 times, and even changed breeds a couple of times (we started in GSD like so many others, and we now have a lab and a bichon frise !) There are several high points in our corgi life; the first was win-ning the BOB/BOW/WB at Lakeshore’s 25th Anniversary show with our Kayla under Stuart Magness. The pinnacle was having one of our babies,” Ch. Pot O’ Gold Visions of a Sunset” win BOB at the National several years ago. She was owned by Sandi Eaton and Barb Sheppard and she produced well…I think she has great grand-offspring in the ring now! Celine shares her “high point status” with our beloved Ch. Tallyrand Archangel Michael ROMX, who passed on a few days before his 14th birthday. He started his career as Best Puppy at the PWCCA Specialty under Mary Winsone. He left behind many awesome offspring who carry on his lineage today, some of his children and grandchildren are currently top winners/producers. He was my last corgi…it was SO hard to let him go, and even harder to try to keep going. We have been fortunate enough to have owned and co-owned dogs with the most wonderful people, which contributed greatly to our success. I thank God for my co-owners every day, as they have carried much of the load, enabling me to care for my family and to pursue other endeavors, many of them in His service. There are so many of you who have been a blessing in

my life, in one way or another.

The past 9 years have been particularly challenging. I have had breast cancer twice… I tell people I am the only person I know who has had a mastectomy twice- on the same side! The plethora of surgeries, chemo, radiation, reconstruction, recovery, spinal fractures, and lifetime behavioral changes was a challenge and took me away from the sport I have enjoyed for so long. It really does change your life, but I am healthy now and grateful for that. The bottom line - it’s

hell to get old, but it beats the alternative! Kids in college (forever) don’t help with that!

Pembroke Welsh Corgis within the stated age limits which are not Champions as of the closing date for entries for this show, are eligible to compete in the Sweepstakes. ENTRY FEE is $20.00. I started judging Sweeps in 1989 with the Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of the Rockies, and have done many Specialty Club sweeps, some of them twice - Gaitway, OVPWCC, Mayflower, Cascade, and Houston. I have also judged corgis at the SEPWCC specialty, and the Garden State PWCC. In addition, I have done all breed matches and groups, and stewarded at matches and Specialties. I was a charter member of Gaitway and OVPWCC, and served the Lakeshore PWCC in many capacities while I lived on your side of the Mississippi. For many years it was a club policy that active members could not judge here. As I have not been active in a few years, I am pleased to finally have the opportunity to assess the beautiful puppies at the Lakeshore show. This was my home club, where I got my introduction to all things corgi and dog show. Many of my early show experiences were with my dear Lakeshore friends, some of whom are no longer with us. It is with great sadness that I acknowledge that some of my most favorite people will not be here to share in this event. Camilla Thorne signed my contract for this assignment. Art Smith was always a joyful heart filled with love; ever present at Lakeshore events and always

faithful. Both of them and so many others are missed.

I have been passed by the UK Kennel Club, the American Kennel Club, the Canadian Kennel Club and the New Zealand Kennel Club to Judge the Breed at Championship level.

I owe a great deal of gratitude to this wonderful Breed. Pembroke Corgis have given me so much joy in the Show Ring both Exhibiting and Judging. Words cannot describe how much pleasure this wonderful Breed has given me at home.

My enthusiasm and passion for my beloved Corgis exists as strong today as it did the first day we collected Carla from the late Miss Jane Evans.

I hope this gives a brief insight into the early years when I developed a great admiration, love and dedication for this wonderful Breed.

We no longer share our home with any Rottweilers, our last old lady left us 9 years ago but I still maintain a keen interest in the Breed.

Also sharing our home with the Corgis today are two Working English Springers and our two delightful PBGV’s.

I first became involved with Pembroke Corgis in the 1980’s when I was still Breeding and show-ing Rottweilers.

At the time my Daughter Nicki was very young and insisted on having the same hobby as her Mother, the only problem being the dog was somewhat larger than her.

We decided it was time that we looked for a medium sized Breed that was sturdy enough to hold it’s own with a number of Rottweilers, had an excellent character and was at that time classified in the same Group.

I suppose on the face of it there seemed to be only one choice, it had to be the Pembroke Corgi, not only did it have all the aforemen- tioned attributes but also possessed a loving nature as well as beauty.

We approached the late Miss Jane Evans of the renowned Penmoel Kennel and she graciously allowed us to have pick of the bitches from her next litter by Can. Ch. Kaytop Ming to a tri-colour bitch Pen- moel Black Braid.

Penmoel Mili- sande at Penliath (Carla) was the foundation bitch of our kennels and in her first litter produced UK Ch. Penliath Bon- nice who, amongst m a n y o t h e r awards, gained Best of Breed at Crufts in 1992, Dutch Ch. Penli-ath Katherine and Dutch Ch. Penliath William.

Carla is still closely behind all the dogs at Penliath today including Ch. Penliath Shooting Star who is the UK’s Breed Record holder and Reserve Best In Show at Crufts 2001.

We have bred and owned to date 14 Pembroke UK Champions which include the UK Breed Record Holder and one gaining her International UK Dutch and Luxembourg Titles. We have been awarded the Welsh Corgi League Leslie Perrins Memorial Trophy for the Top Pembroke Corgi of the Year on 7 occasions.

We were delighted in 2015 when we were awarded the Accolade of Excellence by the UK Kennel Club for their Assured Breeder Scheme.

We have owned, for over 40 years, working English Springer Spaniels. We have also had the pleasure of owning Norfolk Terriers and in 2009 had the delight of being owned by two lovely PBGV’s, Soletrader Doris Duck at Penliath and Ch Soletrader Duck ‘N’ Dive at Penliath who completed his UK title and was awarded the Dog CC at Crufts in 2012.

In the 1990’s I served on the Committee of the Welsh Corgi League Southern Section and re-mained on this Committee for over six years.

I was literally born into the world of breeding/showing dogs as my mother bred Dobermans, Ger-man Shepherds and later in life, Whippets. I always wanted a breed that was smaller. While I was busy showing hunters as a teen in the U.S. and Canada, I quickly discovered the perfect dog for me and received a Pembroke Welsh Corgi puppy as a present for my 16th birthday in 1970. I was absolutely over the moon and have had a love affair with the breed ever since. “Stonecroft” came to be 4 years later with the birth of my first litter which contained my first multiple BIS win-ner. I have bred 7 All-Breed Best In Show winners and 9 Specialty Best In Show winners. Some highlights for Stonecroft are: Canada’s 1st #1 Herding Dog with the splitting of the Working Group in 1986; National Specialty Best of Breed winners in 3 countries (U.S., Canada and England) with 3 different but related dogs; Best In Show winner 1998 Welsh Corgi League Diamond Jubilee (England) who was also Top Corgi in England as well as 1st imported male Pembroke to become a U.K. Champion. Top Corgi in Canada with several dogs for a num-ber of years. My partner, Anita Cameron and I are so proud of the achievements at Specialties won by Mr. Bean’s (Ch. Stonecroft’s Second Sight) children and grandchildren. He has Champion children in Canada, U.S., England and Australia and also several Specialty Best of Breed winners. Incredibly excited that his daughter, Ch. Northwynd Linincorgi Everlast-ing, followed in his footprints by winning Best of Breed at the 2011 PWCCA National Specialty, a feat that has never been accomplished.

I am a member of the PWCCA, PWCA(Canada), Canadian Dog Judges Association and a Life Member of the Canadian Kennel Club.

I started judging in 1995 and I am now licensed to judge All-Breeds. I have had the pleasure to judge Specialties for the Ohio Valley, Mayflower twice, Garden State, Cascade, Palmetto, Sun-shine & Southern California Pembroke Welsh Corgi Clubs, Welsh Corgi Club of Queensland Classic/Australia and Sweepstakes for Lakeshore PWC and Canadian National Specialty with numerous supported entry shows. Also, in 2009, I had the incredible honour of judging Bitches at the PWCCA National Specialty.

I live in the beautiful countryside of Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada with my partner, Anita, our Corgis, 2 Papillons and 3 cats.

Gait Free and smooth. Forelegs should reach well forward without too much lift, in unison with the driving action of the hind legs. The correct shoulder assembly and well-fitted elbows allow a long, free stride in front. Viewed from the front, legs do not move in exact parallel planes, but incline slightly inward to compensate for shortness of leg and width of chest. Hind legs should drive well under the body and move on a line with the forelegs, with hocks turning neither in nor out. Feet must travel parallel to the line of motion with no tendency to swing out, cross over or interfere with each other. Short, choppy movement, rolling or high-stepping gait, close or overly wide coming or going, are incorrect. This is a herding dog, which must have the agility, freedom of movement, and endurance to do the work for which he was developed.

Temperament Outlook bold, but kindly. Never shy or vicious. The judge shall dismiss from the ring any Pem-broke Welsh Corgi that is excessively shy.

Neck, Topline, Body Neck--Fairly long. Of sufficient length to provide over-all balance of the dog. Slightly arched, clean and blending well into the shoulders. A very short neck giving a stuffy ap-pearance and a long, thin or ewe neck are faulty. Topline--Firm and level, neither riding up to nor falling away at the croup. A slight depression behind the shoulders caused by heavier neck coat meeting the shorter body coat is permissible. Body--Rib cage should be well sprung, slightly egg-shaped and moderately long. Deep chest, well let down between the forelegs. Exaggerated lowness interferes with the desired freedom of movement and should be penalized. Viewed from above, the body should taper slightly to end of loin. Loin short. Round or flat rib cage, lack of brisket, extreme length or cobbiness, are unde-sirable. Tail--Docked as short as possible without being indented. Occasionally a puppy is born with a natural dock, which if sufficiently short, is acceptable. A tail up to two inches in length is allowed, but if carried high tends to spoil the contour of the topline.

Forequarters Legs--Short, forearms turned slightly inward, with the distance between wrists less than between the shoulder joints, so that the front does not appear absolutely straight. Ample bone carried right down into the feet. Pasterns firm and nearly straight when viewed from the side. Weak pasterns and knuckling over are serious faults. Shoulder blades long and well laid back along the rib cage. Upper arms nearly equal in length to shoulder blades. Elbows parallel to the body, not prominent, and well set back to allow a line perpendicular to the ground to be drawn from tip of the shoulder blade through to elbow. Feet--Oval, with the two center toes slightly in advance of the two outer ones. Turning neither in nor out. Pads strong and feet arched. Nails short. Dewclaws on both forelegs and hindlegs usually removed. Too round, long and narrow, or splayed feet are faulty.

Hindquarters Ample bone, strong and flexible, moderately angulated at stifle and hock. Exaggerated angulation is as faulty as too little. Thighs should be well muscled. Hocks short, parallel, and when viewed from the side are perpendicular to the ground. Barrel hocks or cow-hocks are most objectionable. Slipped or double-jointed hocks are very faulty. Feet--as in front.

Coat Medium length; short, thick, weather- resistant undercoat with a coarser, longer outer coat. Over-all length varies, with slightly thicker and longer ruff around the neck, chest and on the shoulders. The body coat lies flat. Hair is slightly longer on back of forelegs and underparts and somewhat fuller and longer on rear of hindquarters. The coat is pref-erably straight, but some waviness is permitted. This breed has a shedding coat, and seasonal lack of undercoat should not be too severely penalized, providing the hair is glossy, healthy and well groomed. A wiry, tightly marcelled coat is very faulty, as is an overly short, smooth and thin coat. Very Serious Fault--Fluffies--a coat of extreme length with exaggerated feathering on ears, chest, legs and feet, underparts and hindquarters. Trimming such a coat does not make it any more acceptable. The Corgi should be shown in its natural condition, with no trimming permitted except to tidy the feet, and, if desired, remove the whiskers.

Color The outer coat is to be of self colors in red, sable, fawn, black and tan with or without white markings. White is acceptable on legs, chest, neck (either in part or as a collar), muzzle, underparts and as a narrow blaze on head. Very Serious Faults: Whitelies--Body color white, with red or dark markings. Bluies--Colored portions of the coat have a distinct bluish or smoky cast. This coloring is associated with extremely light or blue eyes, liver or

General Appearance Low-set, strong, sturdily built and active, giving an impression of substance and stamina in a small space. Should not be so low and heavy-boned as to appear coarse or overdone, nor so light-boned as to appear racy. Outlook bold, but kindly. Expression intelligent and interested. Never shy nor vicious.

Correct type, including general balance and out-line, attractiveness of headpiece, intelligent out-

look and correct temperament is of primary importance. Movement is especially impor-tant, particularly as viewed from the side. A dog with smooth and free gait has to be rea-sonably sound and must be highly regarded. A minor fault must never take precedence over the above desired qualities.

A dog must be very seriously penalized for the following faults, regardless of whatever desirable qualities the dog may present: oversized or undersized; button, rose or drop ears; overshot or undershot bite; fluffies, whitelies, mismarks or bluies.

Size, Proportion, Substance Height (from ground to highest point on withers) should be 10 to 12 inches. Weight is in proportion to size, not exceeding 30 pounds for dogs and 28 pounds for bitches. In show condition, the preferred medium- sized dog of correct bone and substance will weigh approximately 27 pounds, with bitches approximately 25 pounds. Obvious oversized specimens and diminutive toylike individuals must be very severely penalized. Propor-tions--Moderately long and low. The distance from the withers to the base of the tail should be approximately 40 percent greater than the distance from the withers to the ground. Substance--Should not be so low and heavy-boned as to appear coarse or over-done, nor so light-boned as to appear racy.

Head The head should be foxy in shape and appearance. Expression--Intelligent and inter-ested, but not sly. Skull--should be fairly wide and flat between the ears. Moderate amount of stop. Very slight rounding of cheek, not filled in below the eyes, as foreface should be nicely chiseled to give a somewhat tapered muzzle. Distance from occiput to center of stop to be greater than the distance from stop to nose tip, the proportion being five parts of total distance for the skull and three parts for the foreface. Muzzle should be neither dish-faced nor Roman-nosed. Eyes-Oval, medium in size, not round, nor protrud-ing, nor deepset and piglike. Set somewhat obliquely. Variations of brown in harmony with coat color. Eye rims dark, preferably black. While dark eyes enhance the expression, true black eyes are most undesirable, as are yellow or bluish eyes. Ears-Erect, firm, and of medium size, tapering slightly to a rounded point. Ears are mobile, and react sensitively to sounds. A line drawn from the nose tip through the eyes to the ear tips, and across, should form an approximate equilateral triangle. Bat ears, small catlike ears, overly large weak ears, hooded ears, ears carried too high or too low, are undesirable. Button, rose or drop ears are very serious faults. Nose--Black and fully pigmented. Mouth--Scissors bite, the inner side of the upper incisors touching the outer side of the lower incisors. Level bite is acceptable. Overshot or undershot bite is a very serious fault. Lips--Black, tight with little or no fullness.
