Dear
We thank you for your past participation and support. As the year comes to a close, we ask you to make a gift today!
All over the Commonwealth, people are joining with PHC to con-sider the questions that matter to them. How can literature, history and storytelling make new things familiar and familiar things new again? What is the best way to appreciate a culture different from your own? What can a fresh look at the past teach us about the present? And, when the world weighs upon us, who knows of a great book to escape into?
Your gift will enable PHC to offer a new Speakers line-up of schol-ars, artists and storytellers to crisscross the state, new episodes from our award-winning television show, book discussion programs for youth and adults, and so much more.

In 2008, the Pennsylvania Humanities Council will integrate our Humanities-and-the-Arts program into our primary grant
program. PHC is committed to humanities and arts programming. Arts
organizations and other nonprofits with projects that combine the humanities
and the arts are invited to apply for a Humanities Grant. Humanities Grants fund projects on history, literature, the arts and the
ideas that shape the human experience.
Quick Humanities Grants

perspectives. Funded in part by the NEH as part of its We the People

HLive PosterI grappled with this one a bit and realized that while the HLive logo with the rabbit ears is more interesting visu-ally, it doesn’t convey all the info we’d like – most importantly the WHYY and PHC logos, so please swap the rabbit ears logo out and use the rectangular one (attached for your convenience). · Starting with the rectangular logo as our foundation, please pull the band of images that you created in poster 2B – they give a nice flavor of the shows. (Perhaps pump them up a bit.) · Incorporating the PHC & WHYY logos through the rectangular logo allows me to simplify the text a bit – here’s revised copy: A digital television co-production, Humanities Live explores the human experience through the lens of arts and culture, history and literature. For more information, visit www.pahumanities.org. · I go back and forth about the positioning of the different elements, perhaps logo first, then text, then bands of images. I defer to you about what you think works best. Sorry, if I’m dithery on this poster. I’m happy to brainstorm further with you. Thanks for your patience!

You are so delightfully speedy. Thanks so much for the quick turn around with the posters. I think we’re well positioned. The HLive poster is the more urgent of the pair. I have only one tweak – the purple box in the center (between Marlon Brando and Connie Mack) seems too dark to me. Can we have a lighter color, like something similar to the yellow used in the PA Poet graphic? That’s it. We’re fine time-wise if something goes to the printer on Monday with the piece in-hand on Tuesday. We have a bit more time for the SML piece. I need to share this with Laurie and will get back to you, probably this afternoon. Thanks so much!
