WHO and WHAT is chamPS?

• Parents must complete at least 60 hours of voluntary services between 27 June 2016 and 26 June 2017
• Only parents of the child can volunteer their services to the school
NUMBER OF HOURS TO SERVE
We know and understand that in carrying out the volunteer services:
• You have work commitments. • You need time to apply leave/time off.
We need your assurance that:
• You are READY to do your best in serving the school.
• You will put the safety of our students as TOP priority.
Primary School Registration Exercise Phase 2B
•Usually in mid July of the year of registration.
When to register your child?
• According to order of priority (phases) in the Primary
School Registration Exercise, at the end of Phase 2A(2),
NPS is allocating 20 places to Phase 2B registrants.
This year, 4 out of 20 places in the phase have been
allocated to meet school needs.
• The remaining places will be allocated to Phase 2C.
How are places allocated?
• Upon confirmation of your commitment, interested parents will have to sign a Letter of Acceptance and submit supporting documents to be admitted into Phase 2B.
• The Letter of Acceptance and supporting documents must be submitted to the school by 13 June 2016 (Monday).
• By early July 2017, hours served will be compiled by school admin staff & given to the Administration Manager.
• School will then issue letters endorsing your contribution & eligibility for Phase 2B.
How can you contribute to the school?
• Road Safety • Recess duty • Library • Learning journey • School events
P1 orientation, CNY bazaar, Teachers’ Day etc.
DUTIES
• Identification
PV passes will be issued and for your safe-keeping till the end of your service
PV passes must be worn at all times whilst you are carrying out your duty
• Attire
No slippers
No shorts, singlet, tank tops, spaghetti string top or dresses
• Leave your work outside the school
• Plan your time and ensure you arrive 5-10 minutes early
BEFORE YOUR DUTY
• Produce your PV pass at security office • Sign in & Sign out at the General Office for all duties
Also in addition: Traffic : Sign-in at the security office at Gate B.
Attendance will be taken by the person-in-charge
Note of the name and mobile number of the person-in-charge and the meeting venue
SIGN-IN PROCEDURE
Dos
• Student’s safety is our top priority
• Assist teacher in maintaining queue / order
• Inform of students’ misbehaviors to teacher-in-charge
Don’ts
• Text messaging or calling should be avoided unless it is really urgent and necessary
• Indulge in excessive conversation with other PVs or teachers
DURING YOUR DUTY
• If the parent volunteer cannot turn up for scheduled duty, he / she has to exchange the duty with another parent. A maximum of TWO changes are allowed for the entire period of service (July 2016 – June 2017).
• No cancellation of assigned duties
PVs are expected to make the commitment to perform the duty once it is assigned to them
PVs are expected to perform all assigned duties even when they have met the 60 hours requirement
EXCHANGE / CANCELLATION POLICY
•The school considers bad conduct as serious breach of contract. Penalties would be deliberated upon and meted out to any Parent Volunteer who shows lapses in their execution of duty.
For the 1st report of negligence, a written warning will be issued.
A 2nd report of negligence is liable to a termination of the scheme.
• Regular Duties (Traffic, Recess) for 2016/17
• Duties affected by school events / holidays will not be replaced.
Duties assigned will follow the school calendar,
Planned duties are subjected to changes according to the school calendar.
MAIN AREAS OF DUTY AVAILABLE
• Ad-hoc Duties (Learning Journey / School Events)
The remaining hours will come from ad-hoc duties.
PVs will be contacted via email and assigned on first-come-first serve basis.

• Hours will only be clocked when PV duty has been performed
• Time recorded from the stated start time regardless of PV early arrival but time will be deducted if PV is late for duty
• Please report over-time (OT) within 5 days at General Office
• Onus on PVs to track their volunteer hours

• Cancellation of duty will be given at least 3 days in advance by the school
• Briefing of duty will not be considered as serving hours
NEGLIGENCE OF DUTIES
• No show
• Late
• Neglect the needs of students
• Negative feedback from teacher-in-charge

COMMUNICATION
What Happens If You Decide To Withdraw?
WITHDRAWAL
•Any withdrawal must be made in writing to the school.
•Once withdrawn, the number of hours previously contributed will be null and void.

Hours can only be awarded when duty has been performed. Communication: Email |Mobile – Whatsapp or SMS
Key points to note:
• Leave your work outside the school • Please find your own replacement • Look out for ad-hoc duties to clock your hours
