1.0 INTRODUCTION
Phase I of this geotechnical subsurface investigation was performed from April 22nd through29th, 2013. The investigation program was developed based on the proposed layout of the newstation infrastructure provided by the Architect – Sowinski and Sullivan. Phase 1 data report wasprovided to all bidders on July 2013.
This addendum report covers Phase II environmental and geotechnical investigation. Phase IIcommenced on February 18, 2014 and still ongoing at the time of this report preparation.
This data report does not present geotechnical or environmental interpretation of the datacollected and does not provide geotechnical recommendations for design and construction.
Limitations
The information presented herein is based on limited geotechnical information and structureconfiguration from the preliminary architectural plans. Therefore, the data may not be enoughfor final design or construction. Additional geotechnical investigations including soil borings, in-situ testing, and associated laboratory testing and geotechnical analyses are expected to beperformed by the winning Design-Build Contractor when data relative to construction staging, structural loading, station infrastructure layouts are finalized.
The boring logs and geotechnical investigation records depict subsurface conditions only at thespecific soil sampling location. Subsurface conditions at other locations may differ fromconditions observed at specific soil sample and investigation locations. Also, the passage oftime may result in a change in the subsurface condition at an investigation location. There is nowarranty or guarantee, either expressed or implied, that the conditions indicated by suchinvestigations or records thereof are representative of those existing throughout such areas, orany part thereof, or that unexpected developments may not occur, or that materials other than,or in proportions different from those indicated, may not be encountered.
This report does not address environmental issues or issues related to groundwater and soilcontamination.
1.0 PHASE II SUBSURFACE INVESTIGATION PROGRAM
1.1 Test Borings
Four (4) 4-inch diameter (I.D.) boreholes are planned to be advanced by Hollow Stem Auger(HSA) drilling and rock coring techniques. Boring location plan is shown in Figure 1. Depths ofthe planned boreholes are estimated to be 40 feet below ground surface, as shown in Table 1.

Boring logs for RTC-8 and RTC-5 (partial) following NYSDOT standards are included inAppendix A.
Soil samples, boulders, and rock cores photos for RTC-8 and RTC-5 (partial) are includedAppendix D.
1.2 Environmental Laboratory Testing
Applus RTD/Quality Inspection Services, Inc. was retained to obtain representative soil samplesfor analytical testing in accordance with project specifications and the following parameters:(Please refer to Tables 1 and 2 in Appendix B for an analytical summary of detectedcompounds)
Sample # RITC-5 and RITC-7:
8260 VOC Total/TCLP 8270 SVOC Total/TCLP Pest/Herb Total/TCLP PCB Metals (13 PP) Totals/TCLP Cyanide Hexachrome Ignitability Corrosivity
Based on the analytical results, the following parameters were NOT detected in the two fillsamples:
Chlorinated herbicides Organochlorine pesticides TCLP Herbicides TCLP Pesticides TCLP Volatiles TCLP Semivolatiles TCLP Metals (above regulatory limits) PCBs Ignitability Volatiles (above regulatory limits)
Rochester Intermodal Transportation Center Improvement GEOTECHNICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DATA REPORT (GDR)
4
The following parameters were detected above the parameter Method Detection Limits (MDL):
RITC-5: Semivolatiles above MDL but below NYSDEC regulatory levels RITC-5: Metals above MDL (no regulatory levels have been established) RITC-7: Semivolatiles above MDL; some parameters are above the NYSDEC regulatory
levels. However, based on the characteristics of the fill materials (cinders, slag, sand, etc.) such are not uncommon exceedences for these.
RITC-7: Metals above MDL (no regulatory levels have been established)
No hazardous waste materials were detected in the two fill samples that have been collected till02-27-2014.
1.3 Geotechnical Laboratory Testing
GeoTesting Express, Inc. was retained to perform laboratory soil and rock testing. Results oflaboratory testing performed on samples collected from RTC-5 and RTC-8 are presented inAppendix C. All laboratory testing was performed in accordance with the applicable ASTMstandards.
