2Purpose of the Meeting

To give final organisational details about the trip.Answer any question you may have about the trip.

Supervision

5 members of school staff. Mr Smith, Mrs Price, Miss Cope, Mr Watts, Miss Goddard.Staff from school will also be visiting, including Mrs Di-Pede.Staff from Osmington Bay will also be available 24 hours a day, including a senior manager.4PGL provides a wide range of top quality residential adventure and educational courses for more than 4,500 groups every year

All PGL centres and activities are risk assessed to comply with legal requirements and best practice. Risk assessments are available by request and on the PGL website

Centres are subject to the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority regulations (AALA) where appropriate

ABTA (Association of British Travel Agents) bonded means your money is protected

BAHA British Activity Holiday Association. Responsible for establishing operating guidelines for the activity holiday industry.

6RoomsAll the children are in rooms of 4.Decided by the school staff.Children will find out when we arrive.The children will have their own key!

7Activities are chosen to suit the requirements of the group

4 x 1 hour activity sessions every day

A full evening entertainments programme run by PGL staff includes discos, talent shows and quizzes

Benefits of a multi-activity course include:

Safety

Risk assessments carried out by school for travelling by coach and times supervised by school.Risk assessments for the centre have been assessed by the Local Authority.Our visit has been approved by Rob Brindley, service manager for Outdoor Education in Dorset.9The activities

All our instructors are specifically trained for our programmes to ensure the delivery of safe and rewarding sessions across a wide range of activities

The staff recruitment process is as follows: Detailed application form completed and submitted Vetted by a dedicated HQ recruitment officer Verification of all references, List 99 check and Criminal Records Bureau clearance obtained Successful applicants undergo a compulsory probationary period lasting a minimum of ten days Original qualification certificates checked Prior to the beginning of the operating season, instructors and group leaders who have not worked for PGL before attend a residential training course Job offer confirmed. On-going support, development training and assessment under the supervision of Senior Instructors.

At every PGL centre you will find an experienced and professional Centre Manager who is in charge of Centre operations and has overall responsibility for the success of your course and the performance of our staff.

Operating procedures conform to National Governing Body guidelines where these are relevant to the activity in question and the level being undertaken.

Through the Quality Badge Programme you can be confident that recognised providers fulfil all the necessary criteria as laid down by the DCSF, thereby better enabling Party Leaders to manage visits safely, efficiently and beneficially.

Cameras

DisposableName and school nameDigital your riskNo photos in rooms after unpacking.16Pocket money - It is very much up to you however, as a guide, most groups allow 1.50 per night plus 10 - 15 on the last night for souvenirs

What to pack and valuable items - Please limit luggage to one case/bag per person and one item of hand luggage for carrying food etc. on the journey

The kit list is provided on the Parent Information Leaflets however we would like to stress that:Brand new and expensive items (such as mobile phones) should be left at homeOld, casual clothes are recommendedPack more clothes if it is likely to be wet weatherAll clothing should be marked with the students name and school.

Electrical appliances - Guests are responsible for the safety of any electrical appliances brought to centre. The Centre Manager reserves the right to ask for appliances not to be used if they appear to be unsafe.

Deodorants - It is advised that children bring roll-on deodorants rather than aerosol deodorants as these can often set off fire alarms.

Laundry facilities - There are limited laundry facilities on centre and therefore they can only be used in an emergency.

Contacting your child - Parents are asked not to call the centre except in an emergency. Children are involved in an activity programme often on a large site and may be some distance away from the phone.

Food and Drink

First meal provided by Osmington will be Wednesday evening so a packed lunch will be needed.Special requirements have been sent to OsmingtonPlastic water bottle17

First AidMrs Price is the nominated school first aider.Qualified staff from OsmingtonAll medicine needs to be handed to Mr Watts or Mrs Price on Wednesday Morning.

Departure Day

Arrive normal time.Come in through the staff entrance and leave luggage in the hall.All medicine and money to Mr Watts or Mrs Price. Fill in any necessary forms.Coach will leave approximately 10.00am20Coming HomeCoach will leave Osmington at 1.00pm and arrive a school around 2.15pmChildren to come straight into school.Please help unload the coaches.Collect children, luggage and medicine from the hall.
