THE STORY CONTINUESA daring concept car has become an even bolder reality. This is a vehicle that evokesstrong emotions and marks a dynamic new chapter in the history of Peugeot.Our new story begins with the RCZ.

THE EMOTIONS OF STYLEA triumph of style and technical prowess, the Peugeot RCZ re-invents the originalsaloon coupé structure with an innovative body type that is both sporty and elegant.The shape of the "double bubble" roof is the unique result of outstanding technicalexpertise, both in terms of original design and aerodynamic performance. Its fluid,athletic contours are accentuated by the two polished aluminium arches that sculptits profile, giving it an air of nobility and dynamism.

AN EXPRESSION OF MODERNITYA sensuous charisma marks out the exterior of the RCZ. In profile, extensively sculpted sides and generous curvedwings create a compact and muscular silhouette. Feline headlamps are characteristically Peugeot. Ruby rear lamps,with a stylised badge centred between them, provide a unique signature. A sporty appearance is enhanced by eachtiny detail, from the distinctive contour of the bonnet to the chromed twin exhaust tailpipe.

The stylish fascia panel offers a refined, uncluttered view. It can either be fully covered with a hi-tech material, orpersonalised with an optionaltrim of fine-grain leather.Dynamic lines structure thearrangement of the cabin.

Drivers will admire the distinctive metal inserts on the dials of the instrumentpanel, inspired by the highestlevel of motorsport and uniqueto the RCZ.

Meticulous attention has been paid to the style of each componentand the elegance of the materials used. Whether it’s the leather*finish with double overstitching or the use of chromed or aluminiuminserts, each part has been produced with the utmost care.

You will immediately notice thefine, soft texture of the fasciapanel and the rich thickness ofthe steering wheel’s full-grainleather. The fascia panel and theseats can also be covered in softand supple Nappa leather*.

2.0L HDi FAP 163 bhp 6-speed manualThis engine has a capacity of 1,997 cm3 anddevelops a maximum power reaching 163 bhp at3,750 rpm with a maximum torque of 255 lb at2,000 rpm. To reach such performance it has a newgeneration combustion chamber, a low inertiavariable geometry turbocharger, a high-pressurepump making it possible to reach 2,000 bars in thecommon rail and also eight-hole solenoid injectors.Its fuel consumption is 53.2 mpg for mixed driving(139 g/km of CO2).

1.6L THP 200 bhp 6-speed manualThis state-of-the-art engine draws full benefit fromthe vehicle's chassis. With its maximum torque of 206 lb ft at 1,770 rpm* and its maximum power of200 bhp at 5,800 rpm, the Peugeot RCZ benefits fromacceleration of the highest order: 50 to 75 mph (80 to 120 km/h) in 6.5 s; 0 to 62 mph in 7.6 s, whilstits fuel consumption is 40.9 mpg for mixed driving(159 g/km of CO2).*Temporary overtorque.

1.6L THP 156 hp 6-speed manualThis petrol direct injection turbocharged enginesuccessfully finds a remarkable balance betweenperformance (with a torque of 180 lb ft at 1,400 rpmand maximum power of 156 bhp at 6,000 rpm) andfuel consumption (42.1 mpg; 155 g/km of CO2 with a manual gearbox).

1.6L THP 156 bhp 6-speed automaticThe same engine is available with a six-speedsequential automatic gearbox (mixed consumption38.6 mpg and CO2 emissions of 168g).

The Peugeot RCZ’s range of engineshad not only to live up to thestandards of the vehicle itself butalso satisfy the demands of moderndrivers who are experts in drivingpleasure. The answer lies in thechoice of engines which are powerfulin every sense of the word: generoustorque and power, limited fuelconsumption and CO2 emissions aswell as compliance with the Euro NCAP 5 standards.

To provide a new driving experience,the Peugeot RCZ concentrates all ofPeugeot's expertise in terms ofhandling and road holding. ThePeugeot RCZ has a lowered centre ofgravity, with widened front and reartracks and reinforced suspension andwheels (pseudo Mac Pherson frontsuspension, rear suspension withdeformable crossmember).

The suspension, like the dampers,has been adapted as a consequenceand if you add to this the verygenerous tyre fit (18" or 19"), thewhole provides extremely effectiveroad holding. The power steering,controlled by a hydraulic power train,is configured to offer precision of thehighest order and excellent return ofinformation. It was engineered thatthe braking should be powerful andsustained; this is provided by largeventilated discs, 302 mm in diameter,and 26 mm thick, or even, for the 1.6 l THP (200 bhp) engine inparticular, 340x30 mm. The rear isfitted in all cases with 290x12 mmdiscs.

THE RCZ, CARING FOR THE ENVIRONMENTHDi FAPHDi technology combines withan extremely high-performanceemission control system, theParticle Emission Filter (FAP). A self-cleaning system, it treatsthe gas resulting from the

combustion of the diesel in theengine. The filter contributes toreducing the diesel particles,bringing them to the measurablelimit (0.004 g/km). This technology makes thediesel a cleaner engine.

Gear shift indicator*This indicates to the driver theoptimum moment for changinggear in order to optimise fuelconsumption on vehicles fittedwith a manual gearbox.*Available according to engine.

Braking system and ESP®(Electronic StabilityProgram / DynamicStability Control)To retain optimal balance andpreserve driving pleasure in alldifficult situations, the PeugeotRCZ comes with a complexbraking system that combinesseveral functions:• Anti-Skid Regulation (ASR)system which acts on thebrakes and the enginemanagement to limit wheelslip during loss of grip.• Dynamic Stability Control(DSC) which continuouslycompares the informationtransmitted by the steeringwheel sensor and the yawsensor in order to detect anystart of understeer or oversteer.It then puts your Peugeot RCZback on course, within thelimits of the laws of physics.• Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)helps you to gain better controlover any loss of grip onemergency braking.

• Electronic Brake ForceDistribution (EBFD) whichcontrols braking pressurewheel by wheel for greaterefficiency, particularly whenbraking on corners.• Emergency Braking Assistance(EBA) which increases theeffectiveness of your braking ifnecessary.• Tyre under-inflation detector*with direct detection of thewheel concerned with twolevels of warning: under-inflation or puncture.

Intelligent Traction ControlThe Intelligent Traction Controlsystem adds a new function tothe conventional tractioncontrol. It assists in detectingsituations of difficult gripwhich could make moving offand the progress of the vehicledifficult on roads which are icyor covered with snow. In thesesituations, the IntelligentTraction Control system takesthe place of the ASR function byreducing the slipping of the frontwheels to favour good traction

and maintaining the requireddirection.

Active Rear SpoilerThe Peugeot RCZ has an ActiveRear Spoliler. Controlledautomatically in relation to thespeed of the vehicle or deployedat the request of the driver, itoptimises the flow of the air andimproves downforce.

Air bagsThe Peugeot RCZ has 4 air bagsto contribute to effectiveprotection regardless of theposition of the front seats, with2 driver and passenger front airbags and 2 chest/pelvis side airbags.

Seat beltsThe 4 seat belts fitted in thePeugeot RCZ are all equippedwith an unfastening detectionsystem and a force limiter whichoptimises the restraining of thepassengers by avoidingexcessive force on the rib cage.Activation of the pre-tensioningsystem improves the restraint ofthe front occupants in the eventof a front impact or if the vehiclewere to roll over.*According to equipment.

Increased SafetyIn keeping with the philosophy of the Peugeot RCZ, an extensive range of equipment is offered to provide you withmaximum safety. In addition to road holding of the highest level, the vehicle’s structure and large dimensions contributesto withstanding and absorbing the energy of front and side impacts. It is enhanced by intelligent restraining equipment.

SPACE AND AESTHETICSAesthetics combines withpracticality. If you’re going awayfor a long weekend, the PeugeotRCZ offers space that you wouldnot expect in a coupé. Its boothas a generous capacity of 384L(liquid equivalent and 321 dm3

VDA standard). Extra volume canbe obtained by folding down therear seat backrests, whichincreases the maximum volumeof the boot to 760L (liquidequivalent and 639 dm3 VDAstandard).

Meticulous attention has alsobeen paid to the style and finishof the boot with carpet andchromed securing rings asstandard.

A TRUE 2+2 COUPÉ

Two additional seats simply offermore possibilities…The two rear seats are carefullysculpted and designed inharmony with the front seats. They sit directly below the heartof the ‘double bubble’ roof,allowing more height and spacefor rear passengers. In the RCZcomfort and wellbeing has beenconsidered down to the smallest

detail; for instance whenaccessing the rear seats, thememorised position of the frontseat backrest is restoredautomatically when the seat isput back in place.

TECHNOLOGYIt’s easy to relax and enjoy the journey thanks to the range of technological equipment offered on the RCZ.This extends from the cruise control/speed limiter, to the audible rear parking assistance, passing via theoptional JBL Hi-Fi system* designed specifically for the passenger compartment.
