THE CHURCH OF CHRIST MEETS HERE

Ke fina lly found a small building torent in September. The rent is 300dollars per month which is much cheaper than anything we saw. The buildingis not right in the center of town butwe do have some decent street parkingwhich we would not have had in town.

The building was actually a small factory so it looked basically like agarage when we arrived. We spentSeptember thru aid-December re-model-ing. The garage doors were replacedwith regular doors, the walls wereplastered an d painted, new walls werebuilt to enclose the bathroom, a dropceiling was installed, electric heatinstalled, and the concrete floor wascarpeted. Here,is a list of.the costincurred: doors*880, hea t ing 500, ce i l -ing^725, carpet^300, everything else( wo o d , p a i n t , tools, e t c . ) ^ 8 8 0 . Wedid all the labor ourselves exceptthe electrical work which had to be

done f ay a certified electricien whichcos t^SSO. Another e x p e n s e was forcha i r s , 3 0 chai rs were bought for^3 80.We figured tha t in renting the cheaperbuilding we will have paid for the remodeling in two years and many of theitems purchased can be taken with us ifwe were to change buildings in the future such as: heaters, drop ceiling, ca rpet, and even the doors and of courseany furniture. A minimum of re-modelingwould have had to be done no matter v/hatwe rented in order to accomodate our

purposes. We still need to build dividers since the space v / e have is just onelarge room (5yds x 10 yds) and we stillneed to buy a couple pieces of furnitureand about 20 chairs so if you have aSunday School class that would like aproject, here's one. We met forWorship every Sunday in spite ofthe re-modeling process but our firstpublic meeting in the completedbuilding was our Christmas concertjust before Christmas. I will bestarting the process of getting usrecognized as a legal non-profitassociation (a Church) in France an dhopefully this will all be completedin March sometime. It should be

just a matter of paper work but whoknows what kind of red-tape we willrun into.
