Introduction

On June 4th and 5 th of 2002, geological traverses were conducted across the Eastern block of the Sudbury Breccia Belt #2 claim group. The purpose was to locate and sample any Sudbury Breccia encountered for petrographic description and to verify the validity of previous mapping. Four rock types; arkose, greywacke, gabbro and false volcanics were encountered. 15 samples were collected for assay and petrological purposes.

Location and Access

The property is located in the northeastern corner of the Town of Sudbury, Ontario and is encompasses part of the Timberwolf Golf and Country Club. The claim block comprises Lot l, Con l, of Garson Township (figures l Si 2). The property can be most easily accessed by traveling east towards Garson along Hwy 86 and turning north onto Donnelly Drive. Follow Donnelly Drive north to O'Neil Drive West and turn left. Travel west for another 2 kilometers and cross over a set of railroad tracks. At this point, a foot trail heads southwest to the power line and the golf course. Walking west along the power line for approximately 100 metres bring one to the eastern claim boundary.

Property History

No past prospecting or mining activity has been recorded on the claim.

Topography

The property is generally flat with the exception of a large east-west outcrop ridge located along the northern portions of the claim block. Outcrop exposure consists of several small to medium-sized outcrops and outcrop ridges of low relief. The outcrop areas are largely devoid of overburden and any substantial vegetation. Overburden depth is generally very shallow. The southern portion of the claim block is low and comprises the Timberwolf Golf and Country Club.

Regional Geology

The Sudbury Igneous Complex is interpreted to have originally been a 200km diameter melt crater. The present expression of the now deformed crater is an elliptical form 65km long by 35km wide. It hosts some of the largest nickel-copper-PGE ore bodies found in the world. The geological history of the Complex has blessed it with numerous geologically diverse settings for the emplacement of nickel-copper-PGE deposits.

There are numerous volumes written about the Sudbury Structure and a more complete description of the geology can be found in the OGS Special Volume l, The Geology and Ore Deposits of the Sudbury Structure, 1984, edited by E. G. Pye, A. J. Naldrett and P.E. Giblin.

The 1850 Ma Sudbury Structure is located just northwest of the Grenville Geological Province, at the present boundary of the Superior Geological Province and the Southern Geological Province. The melt rocks associated with the structure consist of several basal units, some of which are critical to the deposition of sulphide ore bodies.

The "Main Mass" rocks consist of norite, quartz gabbro and granophyre while fine- to medium-grained quartz diorite and mafic norite breccias form the "Sublayer" at its base. The sublayer is host to much of the Ni-Cu sulphide ores of the Sudbury Structure which are emplaced in embayments at the contact with the crater walls. Granite breccias occurring at the base of the embayments also host the sulphides. Discrete radial and concentric offset dikes host nickel-copper-PGE deposits in a matrix of quartz diorite and associated breccias.

The impact at Sudbury formed pseudotachylytes (Sudbury Breccia) veins, melt bodies and Footwall Breccias that also contain appreciable economic mineralization. Differentiated sulphides rich in copper and PGE's are often found trapped in brecciated footwall rocks hosting Sudbury Breccia units and related melt bodies.

The basal units are overlain by various heterolithic breccias of the Onaping Formation and fluvial sediments of the Onwatin and Chelmsford Formations.

The Sudbury Structure has been deformed into its present day elliptical shape by northwesterly directed thrusting followed by regional metamorphism during the Leonean Orogeny. The 37Ma Wanapitei Lake Crater east of the Sudbury Structure also deformed the basin to its present shape.

Property Geology

The Sudbury Breccia Belt #2 Property parallels the Sudbury Igneous Complex (SIC) over a strike length of 400m and is situated approximately 2.5km south of the SIC contact. The property overlays the South Range footwall rocks of the SIC. These are represented by the felsic meta-volcanics of the Copper Cliff Formation ^2460 Ma.). This formation is a member of the Huronian Supergroup (2100 to 2500 Ma.) and of the Elliot Lake Group respectively.

The property for the most part, is underlain by feldspathic wackes, quartz arenites and mafic flows of the Stobie Formation. Minor outcroppings of felsic tuffs of the Copper Cliff Formation can be observed in the middle of the claim block. Sudbury Breccia is also present in large quantities and can be most readily observed cutting the metasedimentary units. Metamorphism in the area ranges from lower-greenschist to amphibolite facies.

The metasediments weather brown weathered surface and a dark-gray in fresh surface. Grain size varies from fine to medium. Local cross bedding and grading are present as are minor polymictic and oligomictic pebble conglomerate beds. The metasediments have a granoblastic texture and contain porphyroblasts of hornblende, garnet and staurolite. Gabbro intrudes the metasedimentary and felsic volcanic rocks. The gabbro is generally dark green, medium to coarse-grained and is comprised of euhedral to subhedral amphiboles in a granoblastic matrix of feldspar, quartz and amphibole, chlorite and epidote. Hornblende occurs as radiating porphyroblasts and subhedral poikiloblasts. Trace amounts of pyrite and pyrrhotite are present.

Exploration Surveys

On June 4th and 5th , the eastern block of the Sudbury Breccia Belt #2 claim group was traversed and sampled. The work consisted of observing the outcrops traversed and taking grab samples of any Sudbury Breccia encountered for petrological and assay analysis.

Fifteen samples for petrological and assay purposes were taken at various outcrops on the claim block (map pocket). Samples PT-02-006 and 007 were described as narrow bands of Sudbury Breccia cutting greywacke. Sample PT-02-008 was described as a strongly foliated Sudbury Breccia in a well-bedded greywacke. PT-02- 009 was described as medium to coarse-grained, gabbro with radiating hornblende crystals. Sample PT-02-010 and 011 were described as strongly foliated Sudbury Breccias in greywacke. Sample PT-02-012 was described as a fine-grained, greywacke or quartz arenite. Sample PT-02-013 was described as a possible Sudbury Breccia in greywacke. Sample PT-02-014 was described as a medium-grained gabbro/amphibolite. Sample PT-02-015 was described as Sudbury Breccia in greywacke. Sample PT-02-016 was described as a medium to coarse- grained gabbro/amphibolite. Sample PT-02-017 was described as fine to medium-grained gabbro/amphibolite with possible Sudbury Breccia. Sample PT-02-018 was described as a strongly foliated, fine-grained gabbro. Sample PT-02-019 was described as a foliated and schistose greywacke with possible Sudbury Breccia. Sample PT-02-020 was described as a fine to medium-grained gabbro. The samples were cut, examined and areas to be thin sectioned were selected with the remaining portions being sent for assay. A detailed description of the petrographic work and the assay results can be found in Appendices A and B respectively.

Conclusions and Recommendations

Of the fifteen samples taken; 7 were Sudbury Breccia, 7 were gabbro/amphibolite and l was an arkosic metasediment. No significant assay values were returned. The Sudbury Breccias upon microscopic examination were found to be relatively "warm" in nature with textures ranging from fine-grained porphyritic to recrystallized. Given the large quantity of Sudbury Breccia on the property in conjunction with its close proximity to the known limit of the Sudbury Breccia Belt and several producing and past producing mines, a Total Field Magnetic survey might be warranted.
