Say ‘no’ to border walls and family separationsMore than 500 children remain separated from their parents after a failed policy to deter those legally seeking asylum in the U.S. On July 25, a House committee passed a spending bill to allocate $5 billion for building more border walls. A similar bill in the Senate allocates $1.6 billion.

Our hard-earned tax dollars would be better spent addressing the root causes of this migration. Families seeking safety on our shores, as they have done for centuries, should be given due process and should not be forcibly separated or incarcerated in inhumane detention centers. Children do not belong in detention. They belong with their parents.

Border walls not only waste money, they cause irreparable harm to wildlife, landowners, and local economies, particularly those that rely on tourism.

I was a stranger and you

welcomed me.(Matthew 25:35)

For where your treasure is,

there your heart will be also. (Matthew 6:21)

Oppose funding in fiscal year 2019 spending bills for more border walls, family separation and family detention
